TM collaborates with Huawei to accelerate digital transformation of enterprise and public sectors in Malaysia
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) through its business solutions arm, TM ONE, recently inked a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) with Huawei. This MoC is in pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between TM and Huawei in March 2018 which outlined the various initiatives between the Parties to promote innovation, develop go-to-market strategies, enhance skills and capabilities as well as to improve each other's products and services. As both TM ONE and Huawei intend to play a more proactive developmental role in providing ready infrastructure and ecosystem to support the nation's growth, specifically to further address digital transformation opportunities in the enterprise and public sectors in Malaysia, this collaboration would allow both companies to further accelerate the upcoming digital transformation era amongst Malaysians by leveraging on the combined strengths and capabilities of each other.
The MoC was signed by both companies during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2019.
Commenting on the collaboration, Dato' Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM said, "We are excited to be working hand in hand with a leading global name such as Huawei in a strategic partnership programme aimed at addressing the digital transformation opportunities in the enterprise and public sector in Malaysia. This intended collaboration would strengthen our position as the enabler of Malaysia's Digital aspirations with the deployment of applications and solutions for Malaysian homes, businesses and beyond, as encapsulated by our vision, "Making Life and Business Easier, for a Better Malaysia".
Meanwhile, Tian Feng, the member of Huawei Supervisory Board/Senior Vice President said: "Today collaboration between TM ONE and Huawei is further deepened on the basis of last year strategy partnership MoU, and it will help both companies to advance into the future. This collaboration is based on long-term mutual trust between the two organisations and more importantly, complement technology capabilities and strategy for both parties in the enterprise business market. Huawei is confident that it can leverage its advanced technologies such as cloud computing, Big Data, Internet of Things (IoTs), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to complement TM ONE's venture into the market.
Under the MoC, both parties agreed to jointly promote cooperation through a possible joint account planning and mapping exercise of available opportunities, future joint solutioning as well as joint creation of customer value proposition. The focus will be on enterprise segments such as Energy & Utilities, Oil & Gas, Transportation, Public Sector, Education, Manufacturing, Commercial and/or Real Estate in the areas of, amongst other, Cloud, Network, Storage, High Performance Computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet-of-Things (IoTs) and Software Defined Network.

We also have a long and proven track record in nation-building, coupled with the right expertise and experience to catapult Malaysia into a Digital Nation. KUALA LUMPUR, 6 November 2025 – TM One, TM’s enterprise and government sector solutions arm, has signed a strategic Collaboration Agreement with SIRIM Academy, a subsidiary of SIRIM Berhad, to advance Malaysia’s capabilities in information security, artificial intelligence (AI) governance, and workforce certification. The collaboration focuses on certification and workforce readiness, supporting organisations to comply with Information Security Management Systems (ISMS, ISO/IEC 27001) and the newly introduced AI Management System (ISO/IEC 42001:2023). TM One will provide operational security capabilities for monitoring and incident response, while SIRIM Academy will deliver professional certification programmes aligning with standards requirements and national frameworks. To ensure compliance, organisations can further leverage TM One’s Managed Security Services including its Security Operations Centre (SOC), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Managed Detection and Response (MDR), and Threat Intelligence, which offers continuous protection. The agreement also facilitates joint go-to-market opportunities, with TM One or SIRIM Academy leading client engagements as needed. The collaboration was formally made through an exchange of documents between Shanti Jusnita Johari, TM One’s Executive Vice President, and Dr. Mohd Bakri bin Jali, SIRIM Academy’s Chief Executive Officer (Covering), symbolising the start of a shared commitment to advance Malaysia’s digital trust and governance. Shanti Jusnita Johari said, “This partnership with SIRIM Academy reaffirms TM One’s position as a trusted digital enabler for enterprises and government. By embedding training, consultation and certification into our secure digital infrastructure, we ensure compliance is not only achieved on paper but sustained in practice. TM’S NEW FIBRE OPTIC NETWORK HUB (POINT OF PRESENCE) BRINGS FASTER, MORE RELIABLE INTERNET CONNECTIVITY TO RURAL AND REMOTE AREAS
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) has today announced the completion of its new fibre optic network hub or point of presence (PoP) project phase one (1) installations, across northern region, Sabah and Sarawak. The launch ceremony, which was officiated by YB Fahmi Fadzil, Minister of Communications and Digital, took place at SMK Padang Terap, Kuala Nerang, Kedah. Also present were Dato’ Haji Pkharuddin Bin Haji Ghazali, Director-General of Education and Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad Bin Mentek, Secretary-General, Ministry of Communications and Digital. PoP is a place where different devices connect to each other and to the internet. In simple terms, PoP brings fibre closer to users. By setting up PoP locations near schools, people in rural and remote areas can get better and faster internet services in their homes, instead of relying on mobile internet. This will improve internet access and connectivity for more people in the community. During the ceremony, YB Fahmi highlighted the significant benefits and opportunities that the new PoPs would bring. The new PoPs represent a major step forward in the Government's efforts to narrow the digital gap and promote digital inclusion across Malaysia. A total of 4,370 PoPs had been planned under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) where 4,323 PoPs will be installed near rural schools and 47 PoPs near industrial area. Phase one (1) of the project, involves 677 sites and the remaining will be implemented under phase two (2) over the span of three (3) years, 2022-2025. A total of 233 PoP circuits were installed under phase 1, with 100% completion achieved by TM, ahead of other industry players. “We are thrilled to see the progress and achievements of this project, which will bring significant benefits and opportunities to the community, including improved internet quality, economic development and the development of new infrastructures,” said Shazurawati Abdul Karim, Executive Vice President of TM One. PoP will create a more balanced and inclusive regional development, boosting the growth of new technologies like 5G and future generations of communication technologies. Through this initiative, users in TM's PoP area have now reached over 9,000 and are increasing. A total of 58 of its users are schools that have subscribed to Unifi services. The widespread internet accessibility will not only help to develop the rural economy but more importantly allow learning materials to be downloaded, to improve the quality of education in schools, equipping the future generations with a wealth of knowledge. “As the nation's telecommunications leader, and enabler of Digital Malaysia, TM is committed to support the nation's development agenda through the benefits brought by hyperconnectivity and digital solutions, which will accelerate digital adoption and new economic growth,” added Shazurawati. “The presence of PoP can attract technology companies, start-ups and other businesses that require a high-speed internet connection to operate. This can create more job opportunities, increase innovation, and stimulate economic growth in local communities,” concluded Shazurawati. The collaboration between TM and the Government demonstrates the shared commitment to deliver digital inclusivity throughout Malaysia. For phase two (2) of PoP project, TM has been awarded with 174 sites in the central region. This phase is expected to further boost digital connectivity and economic development for Malaysia.
UMW and TM One collaboration for hybrid cloud solutions to spearhead UMW’s digitisation journey
UMW IT Services Sdn. Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the UMW Group, today signed an agreement with TM One, the enterprise and public sector arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (“TM”), to establish a collaboration on hybrid cloud. The agreement signifies the next stage in UMW’s digital and transformation roadmap to consolidate and improve its current data centre architecture. It will also complement the modernisation process of the Group’s various applications and supports its relentless efforts to optimise technology and operations across its Strategic Business Units.
