TM AND TANAH MAKMUR COLLABORATE TO BRING HIGH-SPEED CONNECTIVITY TO FLAGSHIP KOTASAS DEVELOPMENT
KUALA LUMPUR, 16 AUGUST 2024 – TM via its leading digital convergence arm, Unifi, is collaborating with Tanah Makmur Berhad, to provide fibre broadband services to more than 1,700 residences at the flagship Kota Sultan Ahmad Shah (KotaSAS) township in Bandar Baru, Kuantan.
The agreement was exchanged between Unifi’s Vice President for Product & Innovation Armizy Abdullah Shukri, and Tanah Makmur’s Group CEO YH. Dato’ Shahrul Nizam Abdul Aziz, witnessed by YB. Dato’ Ir. Razali bin Kassim, EXCO, Pahang State Public Works, Transport and Health, and YH. Dato’ Kamarul’ Arifin bin Ahmad, Pahang State Investment Officer.
Leveraging TM’s role as the nation’s leading digital infrastructure provider, Unifi will provide customised high speed broadband plans to residences. Homeowners and residents will have access to Unifi’s broadband services immediately, empowering their digital lifestyles. The inclusion of broadband services will also reinforce KotaSAS’ proposition to deliver high-value properties with reliable connectivity, strengthening its status as Pahang’s new administrative centre.

TM AND ZTE MALAYSIA ENTER INTO A STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP TO DEVELOP NEXT-GENERATION TECH THROUGH HYBRID CLOUD 5G CORE NETWORK
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and ZTE (Malaysia) Corporation Sdn Bhd have entered into a new partnership to build a hybrid cloud 5G core network that is designed for future technologies and applications. Over the next three years, this strategic partnership will foster innovation and advancement of state-of-the-art technologies for TM’s 5G Core project, which includes bare metal containers, SDN-based architecture, hardware acceleration, CUPS, and 3-layer decoupling. Advancements in these technologies will propel the development of a converged, open, reliable, trusted and efficient 5G core network. This rollout is anticipated to transform and revolutionise the way that data will be processed and transmitted, which could significantly impact the development of future technologies and applications. Developing a high-capacity network will also address the rising need for network bandwidth and speed as Malaysia’s 5G adoption and ecosystem accelerates. The integration of this converged network will strengthen TM’s capabilities to provide seamless connectivity and exceptional network performance, serving a diverse range of industries, including healthcare, finance, transportation, and education. Additionally, the hybrid cloud 5G core network will aid in the growth of smart cities, Internet of Things (IoT), and other next-generation technologies that necessitate rapid, low-latency connectivity. This collaboration marks a significant achievement in the advancement of 5G technology in Malaysia, with the novel hybrid cloud 5G core network anticipated to revolutionise Malaysia’s telecommunications industry. TM’s response to the national crisis and assurance to customers, communities and businesses affected
As a result of the extreme and continuous heavy rainfall since Friday (17 December 2021), some telecommunication services provided by Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) have been impacted. A number of telecommunication equipment particularly in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang were damaged resulting in service disruption in several areas. At the time of reporting, TM’s National Crisis Command Centre is up and running, and we are closely monitoring our network sites. The flash floods and landslides have caused several of our nodes in the three (3) states to be inaccessible due to high water and unsafe conditions. In the meantime, we have had to shut down power supply and network equipment in some areas as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of those in the vicinity and minimise any potential risks. We have mobilised our front-liners and as conditions permit, we are actively pursuing network restoration in the flood-stricken zones to minimise any service interruption, ensuring customers remain connected. Our immediate concern is of 50,000 of our valued customers on unifi, streamyx, fixed line and unifi mobile who are affected, and we are working hard to ensure communication services are being safely re-established. Concurrently, the GLC/GLIC Disaster Recovery Network (GDRN) has been activated to provide welfare aid and support to those affected by this disaster. As a start, a total of RM50 million has been allocated for relief initiatives comprising of a matching grant of RM25 million by the Government, while the GLCs/GLICs will jointly contribute another RM25 million. As part of GDRN, which TM co-leads as the Secretariat together with Yayasan Hasanah from Khazanah Nasional Berhad, we are collaborating with the National Security Council (NSC) through NADMA (“Agensi Pengurusan Bencana Negara”) and other agencies to assist in furthering other disaster relief assistance. Together with the members of GDRN, we will mobilise rescue and aid efforts to ensure that basic necessities and healthcare can be provided to those in need. The 56th Royal Signals Telekom Army Reserve Regiment (56 Rejimen Semboyan Pakar Telekom Askar Wataniah) which comprises of volunteers from TM has been deployed on the ground to provide assistance and emergency services involving internet and telephone lines nationwide. “Though the situation remains uncertain, I am grateful for the quick action especially on the part of the TM engineering and customer care team for keeping our customers updated and working towards restoring the much-needed connectivity services. As we brace ourselves in anticipation of worsening conditions, we remain hopeful that Malaysians in need will receive the help they require. Our front-liners will be on the ground around the clock to restore services and bring the impacted States back on its feet,” said Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM.
TM supports national Immunisation Programme with MMU Cyberjaya and Melaka as PPV venues and TM rovers volunteers
Multimedia University (MMU) Cyberjaya campus becomes an Integrated Mega Vaccine Delivery Centre (PPV), in addition to MMU Melaka to further accelerate the national Immunisation Programme. Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) further strengthens its support of the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) when its university, Multimedia University (MMU) Cyberjaya campus began its operations as an Integrated Mega Vaccine Delivery Centre (PPV) facility starting 15 July 2021. This further complements the operations of MMU Melaka campus as a PPV since mid-June. The Integrated Mega PPV at MMU Cyberjaya campus will be able to accommodate the administration of 3,000 doses of vaccine per day. Combined with the Melaka campus, both PPV facilities have the capacity to cater for 3,600 doses of vaccine daily. In addition to these facilities, TM also deployed more than 30 TM Reaching Out Volunteers (ROVers) amongst its Warga TM to lend a helping hand at Mega PPV Bukit Jalil starting 12 July 2021. This will be extended to more venues progressively. Commenting on the support, Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM said: "We believe our responsibility to help the nation curb the pandemic goes beyond our role as an essential service provider. We are very honoured that both our MMU campuses in Cyberjaya and Melaka have been selected to be PPV facilities. Together with the deployment of our TM ROVers volunteers, this is our undivided commitment to further accelerate the national Immunisation Programme so we can help achieve herd immunity for the nation faster." TM also runs its own internal drive to encourage its employees to register for vaccination and to date, more than 80% of Warga TM has registered for the national immunisation programme and 51% of them have been vaccinated or at least have an appointment set for their first dose. "TM remains fully supportive of the Government's recovery plan. We continue to ensure Malaysians are connected in the safety of their homes and that all our customer support services are in operation throughout each phase of the recovery plan. As the enabler of Digital Malaysia, we will support all our customer segments across homes, businesses, industry as well as the public sector with connectivity and digital infrastructure and solutions towards economic recovery. We join all Malaysians in prayer for our safety and health nationwide; please continue to stay safe and ensure that we get vaccinated – together may we return stronger," he concluded.
