TM One and SME Bank collaborate to deliver technology funding to SMEs under PENJANA
TM One and SME Bank sign agreement to provide technology funding to SMEs via SME Technology Transformation Fund (STTF)
TM One, the business and public sector solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad (SME Bank), an agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative to offer technology funding for its Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) customers to accelerate their business and digital transformation.
The MoU was signed by Ahmad Taufek Omar, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, TM One while SME Bank was represented by Aria Putera Ismail, its Group President/Chief Executive Officer.
The SME Technology Transformation Fund (STTF), is a fund set up between SME Bank and the Ministry of Finance to offer financing assistance of up to RM3.0 million to local SMEs. This is part of the Government's Pelan Jana Semula Ekonomi Negara (PENJANA) economic stimulus package to provide financial assistance to SMEs in adopting digitalisation and/or automation in their business operations.
Commenting on the collaboration, Ahmad Taufek said, "We are excited to work hand-in-hand with SME Bank to accelerate digital adoption amongst our customers particularly in the SME segment. This is in support of the Government's efforts under PENJANA to execute key initiatives to help SMEs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our aim is to assist SMEs in addressing real business challenges and issues that they are currently facing with the digital solutions available. We have put in place dedicated teams and solutions to enable our customers to realise the full potential of their digital opportunities. Our Professional Services are a consultative approach in helping SMEs to understand how to plan their digital transformation based on their unique business requirements."
Meanwhile, Aria said, "With a fund size of RM500 million, STTF is expected to directly assist SME entrepreneurs to achieve higher productivity, process efficiency, efficient cost management and greater market penetration. As at 11 November 2020, SME Bank has approved 18 applications worth RM36.55 million under the STTF fund. SME Bank's role in encouraging the SMEs to adopt digital technology was further enhanced with the introduction of ODELA, the first one-stop e-commerce platform backed by a Development Financial Institution (DFI), that enabled B2B entrepreneurs to make transactions and foster partnership across vast ecosystems. The Bank's wholesome approach in providing financing and entrepreneur development assistance further adds value and accelerate the development of digital economy thus boosting the nation's economic growth in this challenging time."
STTF is to be used for financing the purchases of IT solutions and services, technology support services, computer hardware and software, equipment and/or machinery and other intangible assets to enhance productivity and efficiency. SMEs as defined by the National Entrepreneur and SME Development Council (NESDC) are eligible to apply for STTF.
TM One's solutions are aimed at helping SMEs to achieve higher productivity, better cost management and improved efficiency for wider market penetration through the adoption of digitalisation and automation. KENYATAAN BERSAMA KEMENTERIAN KESIHATAN MALAYSIA, KEMENTERIAN KOMUNIKASI DAN TELEKOM MALAYSIA BERHAD
PUTRAJAYA – Next Generation Malaysian Emergency Response Services 999 (NG MERS 999) merupakan sistem kecemasan generasi baharu negara yang dibangunkan untuk menyediakan perkhidmatan lebih pantas, tepat, moden dan inklusif. Mula beroperasi sejak 16 November 2025, pembangunan sistem ini adalah hasil kerjasama strategik antara Kementerian Komunikasi (KK), Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) dan lima agensi kecemasan utama negara, iaitu: Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM); Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM); Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM); Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM); dan Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (Maritim Malaysia). KKM, KK dan TM telah menerima laporan berkaitan perkhidmatan ambulans. Walaupun insiden tersebut adalah terpencil, perkara ini ditangani secara serius dan dengan kadar segera kerana setiap panggilan kecemasan melibatkan nyawa dan kesejahteraan rakyat. Semakan teknikal oleh TM mengesahkan bahawa sistem NG MERS 999 beroperasi seperti biasa, termasuk prosedur penyaluran kes menggunakan prinsip “nearest available” bagi memastikan aset kecemasan terhampir dapat digerakkan secepat mungkin. Bagi pihak KKM, usaha memperkukuh respons di lapangan terus dipertingkatkan melalui penambahan ambulans, penyusunan semula penugasan petugas di kawasan strategik, serta penglibatan badan sukarela seperti Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia, St. John Ambulans Malaysia dan pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) tempatan sebagai sebahagian daripada keupayaan respons kecemasan negara. Penilaian berterusan terhadap keupayaan koordinasi dan ketersediaan aset juga sedang dilaksanakan bersama agensi-agensi berkaitan. Pada masa sama, Perkhidmatan 999 melalui panggilan suara kekal berfungsi sepenuhnya dan boleh digunakan seperti biasa. Aplikasi SaveME999 pula berfungsi sebagai saluran tambahan, khususnya untuk pengguna yang memerlukan ciri komunikasi melalui teks, video dan multimedia, selaras dengan usaha meningkatkan keberkesanan dan keterangkuman respons kecemasan negara. TM akan terus memperkukuh keupayaan sistem dan aplikasi NG MERS 999, termasuk perisian serta proses teknikal yang berkaitan, bagi memastikan prestasi dan pengalaman operasi yang lebih lancar untuk semua agensi kecemasan.
TM Adopts 35 Schools Under Sekolah Angkat Malaysia MADANI, Strengthening Commitment to Nation Building
KUALA LUMPUR, 21 August 2025 – Telekom Malaysia Berhad (“TM” or “the Group”), through its foundation arm, Yayasan TM (YTM), has strengthened its commitment to nation building by adopting 35 schools under the Government’s Sekolah Angkat Malaysia MADANI initiative. Spanning across the country, particularly in remote and underserved areas, the initiative is driven by the Group’s greater purpose to empower future talents and build a more inclusive future through education and technology. At the heart of this initiative is TM Future Skills (TMFS) programme, designed to enhance digital skills among students from B40 or low-income families by integrating digital technologies into their learning experiences. Under the programme, selected “nucleus” schools will be allocated with a digital hub aiming to spark students’ interest in digital exploration and STEM subjects. These hubs are equipped with resources such as PocketLab, robotics kits, 3D printers, drones, tablets and digital learning content. The 2025 TMFS curriculum has been further enhanced to include artificial intelligence (AI) and coding, aligned with the demands of Industry 4.0 and Malaysia’s future digital talents aspirations. TM Group Chief Executive Officer, Amar Huzaimi Md Deris said, “These schools will not only serve their own students but will also extend support and knowledge-sharing to neighbouring satellite schools. This strategic approach enables us to scale the impact of our efforts and reach far beyond the adopted schools themselves, with an estimated 65,000 students nationwide set to benefit from this initiative. “Since we introduced the TMFS programme in 2023, we have established three “nucleus” schools and positively impacted over 10,000 students and 1,000 teachers. It is our way of ensuring that no one is left behind in Malaysia’s journey towards becoming a digital nation,” said Amar. Meanwhile, outstanding Form 4 and Form 5 students from these schools are also eligible for TM’s Young Leaders Scholarship, which serves as a platform to identify candidates for YTM’s Future Leaders Scholarship, offering full financial aid for tertiary studies. “We have always believed that education is the most powerful way to empower the future. By supporting Sekolah Angkat Malaysia MADANI as part of our nation building agenda, we are nurturing hope, unlocking potential, and investing in the next digital talents for the nation. This is how we balance success with greater purpose, and how we bring our aspiration of becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030 to life,” said Amar.
