TM One and SME Bank sign agreement to provide technology funding to SMEs via SME Technology Transformation Fund (STTF)

​​TM One, the business and public sector solutions arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Small Medium Enterprise Development Bank Malaysia Berhad (SME Bank), an agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative to offer technology funding for its Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) customers to accelerate their business and digital transformation. ​

The MoU was signed by Ahmad Taufek Omar, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, TM One while SME Bank was represented by Aria Putera Ismail, its Group President/Chief Executive Officer.

The SME Technology Transformation Fund (STTF), is a fund set up between SME Bank and the Ministry of Finance to offer financing assistance of up to RM3.0 million to local SMEs. This is part of the Government's Pelan Jana Semula Ekonomi Negara (PENJANA) economic stimulus package to provide financial assistance to SMEs in adopting digitalisation and/or automation in their business operations.

Commenting on the collaboration, Ahmad Taufek said, "We are excited to work hand-in-hand with SME Bank to accelerate digital adoption amongst our customers particularly in the SME segment. This is in support of the Government's efforts under PENJANA to execute key initiatives to help SMEs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our aim is to assist SMEs in addressing real business challenges and issues that they are currently facing with the digital solutions available. We have put in place dedicated teams and solutions to enable our customers to realise the full potential of their digital opportunities. Our Professional Services are a consultative approach in helping SMEs to understand how to plan their digital transformation based on their unique business requirements."

Meanwhile, Aria said, "With a fund size of RM500 million, STTF is expected to directly assist SME entrepreneurs to achieve higher productivity, process efficiency, efficient cost management and greater market penetration. As at 11 November 2020, SME Bank has approved 18 applications worth RM36.55 million under the STTF fund. SME Bank's role in encouraging the SMEs to adopt digital technology was further enhanced with the introduction of ODELA, the first one-stop e-commerce platform backed by a Development Financial Institution (DFI), that enabled B2B entrepreneurs to make transactions and foster partnership across vast ecosystems. The Bank's wholesome approach in providing financing and entrepreneur development assistance further adds value and accelerate the development of digital economy thus boosting the nation's economic growth in this challenging time."

STTF is to be used for financing the purchases of IT solutions and services, technology support services, computer hardware and software, equipment and/or machinery and other intangible assets to enhance productivity and efficiency. SMEs as defined by the National Entrepreneur and SME Development Council (NESDC) are eligible to apply for STTF.

TM Celebrates Aidilfitri 2025 with “Salam Teristimewa”, Empowering Autistic Community through AI and Art

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 April 2025 – This Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (“TM” or “the Group”) presents “Salam Teristimewa”, a special campaign that brings together creativity, inclusion and innovation to celebrate the unique talents of Malaysia’s autistic community. Adding further meaning to the celebration, this year’s campaign also coincides with World Autism Acceptance Month in April. In supporting this, TM is collaborating with NakSeni, a social enterprise dedicated to empowering artists with disabilities, to shine a spotlight on three creative autistic individuals—Izzati Shahrin, Yuri Azzari, and Maria Soo. Rich in emotion, colour and individuality, their original artworks have been transformed by TM into dynamic, animated expressions using generative AI tools. These animated visuals offer an immersive glimpse into how neurodiverse individuals interpret themes such as festive joy, human connection and the feeling of belonging, among core elements of Aidilfitri that resonate will all Malaysians. Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, TM Group Chief Executive Officer said, “This Aidilfitri, we are celebrating the power of expression, inclusion, and how technology can and should be used to uplift lives. We believe that every voice, especially those less heard, has a story worth sharing. Through “Salam Teristimewa”, we are humbled to raise awareness around autism acceptance to foster a greater understanding of neurodiversity and promote a more inclusive society. “This initiative reflects TM’s broader aspiration to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, where innovation is not just about advancing technology, but about creating meaningful impact for communities. Statement from TM on Government's decision to retain Single Wholesale Network (SWN) for 5G

1. TM welcomes and supports the Government's decision to continue with the Single Wholesale Network (SWN) model for the deployment of 5G in the country. We believe this reflects the national aspiration for an inclusive digital Malaysia. 2. The SWN model reflects the shared responsibility to meet the collective objectives of 5G for Malaysia: Telcos to focus on investing and developing innovative 5G products and solutions for end customers. DNB shall focus on network-build towards faster rollout of coverage and capacity in a cost efficient manner. TM will continue to provide the fiber backhaul as committed in the signing of the agreement with DNB on 16 Dec 2021. This is another example of public-private partnership in the rollout of critical telecommunications infrastructure to boost economic development and enhance the well-being of Keluarga Malaysia. 3. We look forward to rolling out 5G-enabled products and solutions to our unifi and TM ONE customers. As such, we are currently undertaking internal customer and network trials to bring an improved convergence proposition of fiber plus 5G services to our unifi and TM ONE customers. This is subject to finalising our wholesale agreement with the DNB.

TM Joins Asia Link Cable System Consortium To Boost Submarine Cable Capacity From Malaysia To Asia

KUALA LUMPUR, 14 September 2023 - TM Global, the domestic and international wholesale business arm of TM, solidified its commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital landscape by announcing its recent participation as a consortium member of the Asia Link Cable System (ALC).  This strategic move positions Malaysia as one of the key destinations connecting Malaysia to Hong Kong SAR.   Asia Link Cable; image credited to HMN Tech   TM’s entry into the consortium was made official during the signing of the Construction and Maintenance Agreement (C&MA) with all consortium members held in Penang recently. The current seven members from the ASEAN and North Asia regions include Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel); China Telecom Global Limited (CTG); China Telecommunications Corporation (CTC); Globe Telecom (Globe) and DITO Telecommunity Corporation (DITO) of the Philippines, Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN) of Brunei and Global Transit Singapore Pte. Ltd (GTS). Commenting on this partnership, Khairul Liza Ibrahim, TM Global’s covering Executive Vice President said, “Our inclusion in the ALC consortium marks another milestone in TM Global’s ongoing efforts to position Malaysia as a digital hub in the region. “Malaysia emerged as the region’s top destination for technological investment, particularly data centre businesses. Leveraging our strategic location, the ALC is expected to attract more international submarine cables to land in Malaysia and entice global technology players to leverage our data centres. “This strengthens our efforts to provide reliable, diversified and uninterrupted global connectivity solutions to customers. It also enables us to better support the deployment of hyperscalers’ data centres, and deliver to the future requirements of 5G networks in the country,” she added Spanning a total distance of approximately 7,200 km with an initial design capacity of 24Tbps, the Cable Landing Station (CLS) for ALC will be strategically located at TM Exchange Kuala Sedili, and will capitalise on its proximity to TM’s Iskandar Puteri data centre in Johor. The Sedili CLS is the sixth international CLS in the country, including Kuala Muda, Morib, Mersing, Cherating and Melaka. Its construction is projected to be completed by 2025. The ALC will significantly boost the data-transfer capacity of TM’s existing submarine cable systems, catering to the increasing bandwidth demands across the ASEAN and North Asia regions. Furthermore, the ALC adopts an open cable system design that is adaptable and compatible with various technologies and upgrades. This better positions TM and other consortium members to address the growing bandwidth demand for higher data capacity. With 32 owned and leased submarine cable systems spanning more than 340,000 kilometres around the globe, TM is committed to providing the highest service performance and best quality experience to customers domestically and internationally.
