The future of 5G begins with TM! #bersamasama5G
The Company is ready to bring 5G to all Malaysians; Becomes the First Telco to Deploy Stand Alone (SA) network
As the national telecommunications infrastructure provider of Malaysia's Digital Nation aspirations, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is embarking on delivering 5G infrastructure to the country by participating in the 5G Demonstration Project undertaken by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
The demonstration project is for TM to test the new 5G features, explore the 5G technology system and assess the best way to deploy 5G infrastructure nationwide. The Company plans to test the implementation of a converged 5G core network which allows co-existence of Non-Stand Alone (NSA) and Stand Alone (SA) network. SA is the future of the 5G network deployment and this demonstration is crucial to fast track 5G implementation in the country.
Towards this end, TM through its enterprise and public sector business solutions arm, TM ONE, recently started its 5G demonstration in Subang Jaya, Selangor together with Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ) to test its 5G solutions namely Smart Traffic Light, Smart Safety & Security and Smart Parking.
Besides that, TM is also expanding its 5G Demonstration Project in Pulau Langkawi, Kedah with the demonstration of more 5G use cases. The transmission of 5G service in Pulau Langkawi is going live today, where TM is deploying the first 5G SA network in the country.
Commenting on the milestone development, Dato' Noor Kamarul Anuar Nuruddin, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM said: "We are very excited to be part of this 5G Demonstration Project which demonstrates our capabilities to deploy 5G in Malaysia and to roll-out the first 5G SA network in the country. This is in support of the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission's (MCMC) efforts in progressing humanity towards improving the quality of lives of the Rakyat. TM, via our innovative and comprehensive products and solutions will continue to lay the foundation for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0) and enabling Internet of Things (IoT) – to serve a more digital society and lifestyle, digital businesses and industry verticals, as well as digital Government."
TM's aspiration is to deliver efficient and cost effective 5G infrastructure via infrastructure sharing approach, through the access regulations implemented by MCMC. This is by leveraging on its extensive fibre networks, including the submarine cables, telecommunications towers, and Cloud computing as well as ready Data Centres to support the 5G era in Malaysia. In terms of devices and use cases, its wholly-owned subsidiary, TM Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), is also developing and experimenting 5G related equipment to get ready for the upcoming 5G.
In addition, the Company plans to test and demonstrate the Dynamic Spectrum Sharing feature where it can dynamically share the same spectrum to support different mobile technologies, dynamically.
"This approach is expected to minimise duplication of network which will lead to cost reduction, translating the savings to lower prices for consumers/customers, be more environmentally friendly and allow the savings to be channeled for better innovation and improved customer services. We are open and ready to work together with other operators during this demonstration project. True to our position as the national telecommunications infrastructure provider of Malaysia's Digital Nation aspirations, we have established the communications backbone of Malaysia with the widest connectivity and convergence network," added Dato' Noor Kamarul.

TM Adopts 35 Schools Under Sekolah Angkat Malaysia MADANI, Strengthening Commitment to Nation Building
KUALA LUMPUR, 21 August 2025 – Telekom Malaysia Berhad (“TM” or “the Group”), through its foundation arm, Yayasan TM (YTM), has strengthened its commitment to nation building by adopting 35 schools under the Government’s Sekolah Angkat Malaysia MADANI initiative. Spanning across the country, particularly in remote and underserved areas, the initiative is driven by the Group’s greater purpose to empower future talents and build a more inclusive future through education and technology. At the heart of this initiative is TM Future Skills (TMFS) programme, designed to enhance digital skills among students from B40 or low-income families by integrating digital technologies into their learning experiences. Under the programme, selected “nucleus” schools will be allocated with a digital hub aiming to spark students’ interest in digital exploration and STEM subjects. These hubs are equipped with resources such as PocketLab, robotics kits, 3D printers, drones, tablets and digital learning content. The 2025 TMFS curriculum has been further enhanced to include artificial intelligence (AI) and coding, aligned with the demands of Industry 4.0 and Malaysia’s future digital talents aspirations. TM Group Chief Executive Officer, Amar Huzaimi Md Deris said, “These schools will not only serve their own students but will also extend support and knowledge-sharing to neighbouring satellite schools. This strategic approach enables us to scale the impact of our efforts and reach far beyond the adopted schools themselves, with an estimated 65,000 students nationwide set to benefit from this initiative. “Since we introduced the TMFS programme in 2023, we have established three “nucleus” schools and positively impacted over 10,000 students and 1,000 teachers. It is our way of ensuring that no one is left behind in Malaysia’s journey towards becoming a digital nation,” said Amar. Meanwhile, outstanding Form 4 and Form 5 students from these schools are also eligible for TM’s Young Leaders Scholarship, which serves as a platform to identify candidates for YTM’s Future Leaders Scholarship, offering full financial aid for tertiary studies. “We have always believed that education is the most powerful way to empower the future. By supporting Sekolah Angkat Malaysia MADANI as part of our nation building agenda, we are nurturing hope, unlocking potential, and investing in the next digital talents for the nation. This is how we balance success with greater purpose, and how we bring our aspiration of becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030 to life,” said Amar.
TM Committed For Success Of TVET Madani
Following the official launch of ‘Portal TVET Madani’ and the exchange of Memorandum of Collaboration with the Government today, TM has reaffirmed its commitment to the success of TVET Madani through its tailored vocational education modules along with RM3.5 million contribution for training facilities and scholarship. TM is presently in the final stage of discussions with several TVET institutions to form partnerships that will help transform these institutions into industry-ready technical development centres, towards enhancing the employability of their graduates. This will be achieved through the introduction of industry-relevant modules on fibre networks and digital skillsets, the certification of trainers aligning to industry standards, as well as examinations for student certification. The company plans to develop highly qualified and experienced instructors among its partner institutions to provide expert guidance, especially for B40 students, throughout their vocational journey, and to offer mentorship and support to help them succeed. TM also plans to equip its partner institutions with access to requisite facilities, relevant modern equipment and technology that will provide students with hands-on learning experience that prepares them for real-world fibre network and digital work. TM shall invest RM2.5 million to upgrade the facilities and equipment to selected TVET institutions and a further RM1 million in scholarships for students from the B40 group. As a start, this will facilitate employment opportunities for close to 400 graduates per year to work within its business eco-system. “TM is pleased to announce its commitment to the Government’s TVET Madani initiative through a comprehensive programme that will address the entire value chain. With our strong focus on skills development and industry-relevant training, TM is determined to transform lives and bridge the gap between education and employment for a digitally skilled future workforce,” said Datuk Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM. “Across TM’s eco-system, we have over 430 fibre contractor partners, 880 vendors and over 90 TM 5G Sphere technology partners that will provide graduates close to 400 skilled job openings in the near future. “Vocational education will continue to play a crucial role in nurturing a skilled workforce and driving Malaysia’s digital economic growth. KENYATAAN BERSAMA KEMENTERIAN KESIHATAN MALAYSIA, KEMENTERIAN KOMUNIKASI DAN TELEKOM MALAYSIA BERHAD
PUTRAJAYA – Next Generation Malaysian Emergency Response Services 999 (NG MERS 999) merupakan sistem kecemasan generasi baharu negara yang dibangunkan untuk menyediakan perkhidmatan lebih pantas, tepat, moden dan inklusif. Mula beroperasi sejak 16 November 2025, pembangunan sistem ini adalah hasil kerjasama strategik antara Kementerian Komunikasi (KK), Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) dan lima agensi kecemasan utama negara, iaitu: Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (KKM); Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM); Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM); Angkatan Pertahanan Awam Malaysia (APM); dan Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia (Maritim Malaysia). KKM, KK dan TM telah menerima laporan berkaitan perkhidmatan ambulans. Walaupun insiden tersebut adalah terpencil, perkara ini ditangani secara serius dan dengan kadar segera kerana setiap panggilan kecemasan melibatkan nyawa dan kesejahteraan rakyat. Semakan teknikal oleh TM mengesahkan bahawa sistem NG MERS 999 beroperasi seperti biasa, termasuk prosedur penyaluran kes menggunakan prinsip “nearest available” bagi memastikan aset kecemasan terhampir dapat digerakkan secepat mungkin. Bagi pihak KKM, usaha memperkukuh respons di lapangan terus dipertingkatkan melalui penambahan ambulans, penyusunan semula penugasan petugas di kawasan strategik, serta penglibatan badan sukarela seperti Bulan Sabit Merah Malaysia, St. John Ambulans Malaysia dan pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) tempatan sebagai sebahagian daripada keupayaan respons kecemasan negara. Penilaian berterusan terhadap keupayaan koordinasi dan ketersediaan aset juga sedang dilaksanakan bersama agensi-agensi berkaitan. Pada masa sama, Perkhidmatan 999 melalui panggilan suara kekal berfungsi sepenuhnya dan boleh digunakan seperti biasa. Aplikasi SaveME999 pula berfungsi sebagai saluran tambahan, khususnya untuk pengguna yang memerlukan ciri komunikasi melalui teks, video dan multimedia, selaras dengan usaha meningkatkan keberkesanan dan keterangkuman respons kecemasan negara. TM akan terus memperkukuh keupayaan sistem dan aplikasi NG MERS 999, termasuk perisian serta proses teknikal yang berkaitan, bagi memastikan prestasi dan pengalaman operasi yang lebih lancar untuk semua agensi kecemasan.
