UNIFI MOBILE OFFERS OVER 32K FREE PREPAID SIM CARDS FOR MALAYSIAN HAJJ PILGRIMS
KUALA LUMPUR, 2 MAY 2025 – Unifi Mobile is offering free prepaid SIM cards to 32,500 pilgrims as well as Tabung Haji staff and volunteers for the 2025 Hajj season. This initiative is part of the Sahabat Korporat TH 2025 programme, through which TM supports Tabung Haji via connectivity and digital value-added services for this year’s hajj pilgrims.
With this programme, those performing the Hajj in 2025 are eligible to receive the Unifi Mobile Prepaid SIM card as part of its Middle East Pass offering. These cards were distributed at various Hajj courses and engagement events organised by Tabung Haji, prior to the Hajj season. The Prepaid SIM card can be self-registered through the Unifi UniVerse app available in Google Play or App Store.
Anand Vijayan, Unifi’s Chief Business and Consumer Officer said, “TM has supported Tabung Haji since 1995, providing services and other benefits as part of the Sahabat Korporat TH programme. This initiative aligns with our aspiration to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030, to enrich lives and communities through technology, ensuring seamless and affordable connectivity for our Hajj pilgrims while they are abroad.”
“Providing one of the most affordable prepaid plans in the market, we are offering unlimited roaming data passes that can be bought before they leave for Hajj.” he added.
Unifi Mobile’s customised Middle East Pass offering will include various unlimited data plans for customers to choose from to suit their connectivity needs while performing Hajj, ranging from 1-day pass priced at RM15 to 45-day pass priced at RM125.

Dato’ Zainal Abidin Bin Putih, Chairman of TM, emphasised in his launching speech, “High integrity and efficient governance form the bedrock of any organisation and are essential for building trust among stakeholders. Key principles such as transparency, accountability, fairness, and responsibility in delivering services to customers must be upheld to ensure the sustainability of the organisation.” He added, “Beyond qualifications and skills, another essential attribute that every individual should possess is Integrity. The absence of these qualities will not only harm the individual but also have a detrimental impact on the company's performance and reputation”. The event was broadcasted live to facilitate broader participation from Warga TM and TM’s business partners virtually. TM continues to foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct, ensuring a more sustainable future for all stakeholders.
TM CONFIRMS NO SERVICE DISRUPTION AMIDST GLOBAL TECH OUTAGE LINKED TO CROWDSTRIKE
KUALA LUMPUR, 19 July 2024 - In view of the recent global tech outage linked to a flawed endpoint protection software update issued by a cybersecurity firm, CrowdStrike, which has affected many organisations worldwide, TM wishes to assure our customers and stakeholders that there is no disruption to our business operations and services. TM has proactively detected this issue and managed it swiftly. We will continue to monitor the situation and communicate updates as necessary.
TM Announces Upcoming Change In MD / Group CEO
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), is pleased to announce a change in its executive leadership effective 1 August 2023. The change sees Amar Huzaimi Md Deris as the new Managing Director / Group CEO of TM, succeeding Datuk Imri Mokhtar, who completes his 3-year term on 31 July 2023. Currently heading TM's domestic and global wholesale business, Amar is another example of TM's home-grown talent, after Datuk Imri. Beginning his career with TM after graduating in 1998, Amar’s roles have ranged from financial control, internal audit, corporate and regulatory affairs, Group CEO’s office, culminating in his current P&L position at TM Global. His strategic vision, combined with operational experience and grasp of global leading technologies, ideally positions him to steer TM's evolution from a Telco to a TechCo. His achievements have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his recognition as one of CPA Australia's 40 young business leaders (2012) and by Capacity Media's 'Power 100' list in wholesale carrier community (2019, 2023). These accolades further attest to his leadership capabilities and the promising future he holds at the helm of TM. Speaking about his upcoming role, Amar said, "Datuk Imri has set the right path for TM, with the strengthened foundation from the turnaround and pursuit of new growth areas – charting the shift from a Telco to a TechCo. I am proud to have been part of that journey; and now, I am enthusiastic to follow through and lead TM to the next level." Datuk Imri expressed his confidence in Amar’s appointment, saying, “Amar is an exceptional TM-grown leader with a proven ability to navigate the business and deliver results. I have full confidence that TM shall attain greater success under Amar’s leadership.
