Government’s announcement to increase digitalisation grant to RM200 million next year is a big step in the right direction

unifi is set to accelerate MSMEs in their digitalisation plans with its complete range of digital-first solutions. This comes after the Government’s announcement to raise the Digitalisation Grant for Malaysian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to RM200 million next year.

The increase is a big step in the right direction and is expected to have a significant impact on the push for digitalisation especially in a period when businesses are looking at technology to fast track their road to recovery and beyond.

“As a government-appointed Technology Service Provider Partner (TSP) under the MSME Digitalisation Grant, we have the complete range of digitalisation solutions for MSMEs in every step of their digitalisation journey,” said Anand during a virtual media briefing session held today.

Since unifi launched its bespoke initiative that leverages on the Digitalisation Grant in August this year, the response from MSMEs have been overwhelming, further strengthening the brand’s position as the digital partner of choice among the MSMEs.

Currently, unifi serves a significant portion of the nation’s MSME ecosystem with more than 375,000 MSMEs subscribed its solutions nationwide.

Under this Grant, MSME entrepreneurs can subscribe to unifi Business Solution packages with savings of up to 50% across 12 months. In addition, unifi is offering prizes worth RM1.5 million to encourage MSME entrepreneurs to start digitising their businesses.

Meanwhile, Mohamad Yusman Ammeran, unifi Head of SME Segment who was also present at the session said feedback from MSMEs showed that digitalisation served as a booster that helped these businesses recover and thrive.

“The pandemic has transformed the business landscape in Malaysia and digitalisation is the way forward. We see a positive impact in the many businesses that we’ve supported during this very challenging period and I’m happy to see that many not only recover but have thrived thanks to our digitalisation solutions despite the challenges,” said Mohamad Yusman.

unifi has a host of solutions to cater to the different needs of individual MSMEs.

These include Microsoft 365 which allows businesses to increase productivity with real-time solutions to connect and collaborate anytime, anywhere. This solution also offers access to files in real time across multiple devices while ensuring a high degree of data integrity.

For new businesses venturing into the digital marketplace, unifi offers a comprehensive Digital Marketing Solution where they can enhance their online presence with increased visibility especially on social media.

TM lauds the government’s national recovery plan; stays committed to serve customers

Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) lauds the Government on the announcement of the National Recovery Plan which outlines the four-phase exit strategy and conditions for Malaysia to overcome the socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. TM is fully supportive of the recovery plan that is anchored on three conditions – the number of daily cases reported, the medical healthcare capacity (ICU) and the national vaccination rate. Commenting on the announcement, Imri Mokhtar, Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, TM said: "We welcome the clarity provided by the Government on the National Recovery Plan. It is indeed a necessary response to the serious economic and social impact of the coronavirus pandemic. Service installation and restoration activities remain available for customers with SOPs in place to ensure the safety of both TM personnel and its customers. TM customer care lines remain open. TM will also be running an internal campaign to rally its TM Volunteers by participating in the Malaysia Vaccine Support Volunteers (MyVAC) programme for The Special Committee On COVID-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV) to assist with the vaccination process at Vaccine Delivery Center (PPV) locations across the country. TM is also offering its suitable venues nationwide for PPV, drive through and mobile unit stations. Today, its Multimedia University Melaka campus begins its operations as a PPV facility for JKJAV. TM also connects PPVs nationwide with internet access services to enable the frontliners, medical teams, volunteers as well as members of the public to stay connected during the vaccination process. More than RM8.0 million has been channeled for nation building initiatives to date; in terms of medical and non-medical humanitarian aid for communities in need during the pandemic. Most recently, TM has also set up Tabung Solidarity COVID-19 TM as a continuation of the employee donation drive last year, which has already raised and disbursed RM800,000 to various causes. Thus far, TM Board members and Warga TM have pledged another RM600,000 for the fund through voluntary salary and allowance deduction. The contribution is matched by the company to total RM1.2 million to date. The donation will be channelled to the government's Akaun Amanah Bencana. TM also continues to support the nation and communities in need through connectivity initiatives such as Jaringan Prihatin, CERDIK and MYBAIKHATI. TM reiterates its commitment to ensure the safety and health of customers and Warga TM with special working arrangements implemented and enhanced SOPs towards business and customer service continuity. unifi showcases Malaysia’s first TDD pre-5G wireless technology

The Time Division Duplex (TDD) Pre-5G Wireless technology will be deployed as an alternative at areas with infrastructure challenges to digitally connect the nation ​Living up to its promise to deliver more #khabarbaik, unifi today revealed that a pre-5G wireless technology has been in the works. This is the nation’s first pre-5G via Time Division Duplex (TDD) technology and it is part of unifi’s journey towards powering the nation with 5G. The project, which started in Q4 last year, has already entered its commercial phase at SetiaWalk Puchong which consists of residential blocks, mall and offices.​ At the showcase event, Moharmustaqeem Mohammed, Acting Executive Vice President, unifi, said, “The technology is set to improve unifi’s wireless connectivity services, especially for high-rise buildings and dense residential areas with low fixed broadband penetration, allowing for wireless internet access sharing at home and on-the-go within LTE coverage areas. This project will also address many ongoing infrastructure challenges in areas without fibre coverage, offering speed upgrades of up to 30Mbps via wireless broadband, and peak throughput may go up to 80Mbps.” “In the last few months, we have shared with you about our commitment to deliver the best internet offerings and services along with finding the best solutions using fit-for-purpose technologies to overcome our infrastructure challenges. Today, we are very excited to share another exciting #khabarbaik: unifi has been developing the country’s first TDD pre-5G technology. We are happy to say that the TDD pre-5G network can deliver larger capacity at about 500Mbps, which is 2 times more than the existing 4G technology. This has put us, unifi, a step forward in providing a better service and experience to our customers in the wireless segment. Not only that our new TDD pre-5G capability will enable us to bypass wiring limitations in areas we previously could not penetrate, this technology also brings us one step closer to the country’s 5G milestone,” he added.  At the event, unifi demonstrated the capabilities of its TDD pre-5G technology via capturing the exciting moments of the local alternative rock band, Estranged – on their daily digital activities using unifi’s wireless home broadband service.  “With just some enhancements to the technology, we are now ready to commercially power the nation with 5G via unifi. We see this as a huge step for Malaysia’s telecommunications industry and we look forward to working together with our peers to develop the best technology that can be deployed in every part of the country, be it urban cities, high density residential areas, and rural villages,” Moharmustaqeem elaborated further. Aside from home customers, unifi TDD pre-5G technology will also improve the unifi Mobile experience. Users can seamlessly enjoy their favourite content on unifi Play TV and beyond, endless choice of entertainment, whether they are at home or on-the-move. TM R&D inks MoU with AL-QUDS University to foster industry-academia collaboration for research and innovation excellence in next generation communication technologies

​Telekom Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TM R&D), the innovation arm of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al-Quds University (AQU) to foster industry-academia collaboration for joint research in Next Generation Communication Technologies and to create an institution for innovation and technology transfer. Dr. Sharlene Thiagarajah, Chief Executive Officer, TM R&D, signed the MoU on behalf of TM R&D while AQU was represented by its President, Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek. The agreement was sealed under the support and presence of H. E. Mr. Walid Abu Ali, Ambassador of The State of Palestine to Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand and Maldives. Under the MoU, both entities will join forces to explore research and knowledge exchange activities including staff exchange for scientific works and student visits, in addition to development of impactful digital solutions with a global outlook. Commenting on the latest collaboration, Dr. Sharlene said, “We are excited to have AQU on board as the first university that we’re collaborating with post COVID-19. This MoU is testament of our efforts to work with innovative and entrepreneurial academic institutions to deliver excellence in the field of research and innovation.” “The knowledge sharing and technology transfer between Malaysia and Palestine will definitely boost research capabilities and cross-cultural innovations,” she added. Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Imad Abu Kishek shared, “The university’s strategy encompasses building strong cooperative relationships with the Malaysian industry and academia. We believe that this is the first step towards a sustainable partnership with TM R&D, which will provide our staff and students the opportunity to access expert knowledge, latest technologies, innovation labs, and industry in Malaysia.” “We hope that this collaboration will result in a symbiotic relationship that furthers the economy, innovation, and technology transfer among both institutions,” added Prof. Dr. Imad. AQU is an academic research university that currently offers more than 120 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, delivered through its 15 degree-granting faculties that cover main scientific disciplines such as medicine, life and natural sciences, business and management, arts and humanities, law and jurisprudence, engineering, computer science, information technology, and social sciences. In addition, AQU pursues educational distinction through a culture of innovation and strives to develop entrepreneurs who are able to partake in the development of the Palestinian economy.
