TM & TNB in collaboration to accelerate broadband reach for the nation
Both GLCs to capitalise on combined capabilities to ensure successful delivery of Nationwide Fiberisation Plan
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop an implementation plan to deliver on the Government's Nationwide Fiberisation Plan (NFP).
This collaboration will capitalise on the combined strength of both Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) in terms of reach, infrastructure and expertise. In particular, the synergies will enable the most efficient cost structure, and further accelerate the fibre broadband network reach. This is in line with the Government's aspirations to drive Malaysia's Digital Economy; as envisioned under both the NFP as well as the High Speed Broadband (HSBB) projects.
Further, the roll-out under TM and TNB, as two of Malaysia's leading institutions, ensures the safety and security of the nation's strategic and critical infrastructure. The proposed network will also continue the existing open access participation of industry players to promote private sector competition in retail broadband.
The MoU was signed by Dato' Sri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly, Managing Director/ Group Chief Executive Officer of TM, and Datuk Seri Ir. Azman Mohd, President/ Chief Executive Officer of TNB.
The MoU is subject to a definitive agreement to be signed between the parties upon finalisation of the commercial terms. Further announcements will be made in due course, as and when appropriate.

TM Strengthens National Talent Pipeline with RM25 Million through Yayasan TM Future Leaders Scholarships 2025
KUALA LUMPUR, 11 August 2025 – Telekom Malaysia Berhad (“TM” or “the Group”), through its foundation arm Yayasan TM (YTM), has awarded RM25 million in scholarships under the Yayasan TM Future Leaders Scholarship 2025, reaffirming the Group’s steadfast commitment to nurturing talent, supporting education and nation building. The scholarships will support students pursuing strategic fields including Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science and Analytical Economics at TM’s wholly owned Multimedia University (MMU), local public universities (IPTA), as well as leading institutions in the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and Singapore. Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM and Deputy Chairman of Yayasan TM said, “At TM, we are committed to exemplifying how success and greater purpose can go hand in hand, as demonstrated by the positive impact we create for our communities and the nation. Through this scholarship, we are enabling the next generation of leaders who will drive innovation, create meaningful change, and empower Malaysia’s digital future. We are proud to support their journey as we move together towards our aspiration of becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030.” The 2025 scholarship cycle for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers attracted more than 10,300 applications nationwide, a reflection of the programme’s growing reach and reputation. Applicants went through a rigorous, transparent selection process which included stringent academic screening, online aptitude and competency tests, and final interviews conducted by Behavioural Event Interview (BEI)-certified panels. The recipients were celebrated at a presentation ceremony held recently at Dewan Tun Canselor, Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya, attended by esteemed parents, TM and MMU leaders, and a representative from the Ministry of Higher Education. Ainol Shaharina Sahar, Director of Yayasan TM remarked, “We are proud to welcome these bright young minds into the YTM family. Beyond financial sponsorship, the Future Leaders recipients will also embark on a comprehensive, end-to-end development programme designed to shape holistic and well-rounded individuals, while equipping them with future-ready skills, both in digital proficiency and employability. We believe these young talents will go on to lead, inspire, and make a meaningful difference for Malaysia’s future.” Since its inception in 1994, Yayasan TM has supported more than 18,000 students through various education initiatives, with total investments of more than RM650 million to date. Through these efforts, TM continues to contribute towards building a stronger digital talent ecosystem while supporting equitable access to education. Applications for the next undergraduate intake (September 2025) will open soon for students with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 who demonstrate academic brilliance, leadership traits and active co-curricular involvement. TM calls on members of the public to donate pre-loved devices to the MYBAIKHATI campaign
Three (3) TMpoint outlets in Klang Valley now ready to accept device donations for B40 families Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) is supporting MYBAIKHATI, an industry-wide device crowdsourcing initiative aimed to collect and repair used communication devices to be distributed to low income families (B40). TM has set up three (3) of its TMpoint outlets in the Klang Valley as collection points to facilitate the donation drive. The outlets are TM Experience Centre (TMEC) at Menara TM, Bangsar; TMpoint Cyberjaya and TMpoint Shah Alam. The collection points will be progressively expanded nationwide in the near future. Commenting on TM Group's participation, Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM said: "Everyone should have access to digital devices, especially in these times. The MYBAIKHATI campaign aims to provide the B40 community with usable smart devices for digital learning, work and business, so they have the means to weather through this unprecedented period. TM is excited to be part of this industry-wide initiative as together, we can help to alleviate the burden of the underprivileged and at the same time reduce the digital gap. We have kick-started this year-long donation campaign by setting up three (3) of our TMpoint outlets in the Klang Valley as the designated collection points in this pilot phase; so members of the public who are keen to donate can conveniently drop off their devices. We will definitely explore more locations nationwide to enable more people to take part and make their contribution." TM calls for all Malaysians and members of the public, be it individuals or companies to donate their used devices. TM will repair and refurbish devices that meet the terms and conditions with an allocation of up to RM500 for each device. The refurbished devices will then be distributed to eligible families in the B40 segment, through an appointed Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), or through other various channels including selected "Pusat Internet Komuniti" (PIKs) nationwide. The donated devices that do not meet the requirements of the initiative will be responsibly recycled via the existing e-Waste programme. TM wins two (2) platinum awards at NACRA 2020
Bagged Platinum Excellence Award for Companies with RM2 billion to RM10 billion in Market Capitalisation and Platinum Award for Best Annual Report in Bahasa Malaysia. Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) continues its winning streak at the National Annual Corporate Report Awards (NACRA) 2020 when the Company walked away with two (2) Platinum awards at the awards presentation ceremony, held virtually in Kuala Lumpur, recently. TM bagged the Platinum Excellence Award for Companies with RM2 billion to RM10 billion in Market Capitalisation and this is the fifth (5th) time the Company clinched the most coveted award, after its win in 2014, 2013, 2011 and 2006, thus portraying its long history of exemplary corporate reporting. The other Platinum award that TM won at NACRA 2020 was the Special Awards – Best Annual Report in Bahasa Malaysia.
