TM REVOLUTIONISES DIGITAL HEALTHCARE SERVICES WITH NEXT GEN E-PHARMACY SOLUTION Article Header

CYBERJAYA, 14 MARCH 2024 – TM via its Unifi Business segment, today unveiled its latest digital business offering called the e-Pharmacy Solution, a mobile application that enables e-prescriptions via teleconsultation for pharmacists and their walk-in patients.

Bundled with Unifi Business’ fixed broadband plans from 100Mbps up to 2Gbps, this offering in collaboration with Teleme Technologies, Malaysia’s leading telemedicine platform, includes access to over 500 licensed healthcare professionals for teleconsultation, e-prescriptions, customised Digital Signature, e-health articles and a repository for patients’ medical records.

Harnessing TM’s networks and its approximately 600 nationwide Unifi Business consultants, the offering aims to help pharmacists dispense essential medications and pharmaceutical services, especially among rural and underserved communities. Through e-prescriptions, these communities will be able to access prescribed medications seamlessly, enhancing adherence and improving health outcomes.

Launched by Minister of Communications YB Fahmi Fadzil, TM’s e-Pharmacy Solution aligns with the collaboration between the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) during the Persidangan PEDi MADANI, to accelerate the digitalisation of healthcare services, and bridge the urban-rural gap in equitable access to quality healthcare.

This offering is also eligible for the Government’s Geran Digital PMKS Madani (GDPM), ensuring pharmacists from the micro, small and medium enterprise segment (MSME) receive the support they need to embrace digitalisation and enable a more inclusive healthcare system for all Malaysians.

Key Features of Unifi Business’ e-Pharmacy Solution

  • Streamlined Prescription Processing: Walk-in patients receive e-prescriptions from teleconsultations with licensed medical professionals, which allows pharmacists to dispense the necessary medicines to these patients.
  • Improved Patient Experience: Patients benefit from flexible access to essential prescribed medications, leading to better adherence and health outcomes, which is especially important among underserved or rural communities.
  • Enhanced Medication Management: The application offers robust medication management tools, allowing pharmacists to monitor their inventory and send reminders to patients for medication refills.
  • Secure Patient Management: The application prioritises patient privacy and data security, leveraging secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Eligibility for Geran Digital PMKS Madani (GDPM): Eligible pharmacies will be entitled to claim Grant rebates up to 50% discounts off Unifi Business’ commercial package price for 12 months.

TM INKS AGREEMENT WITH MALAYSIAN GOVERNMENT TO DELIVER NATION’S NEXT GENERATION EMERGENCY SERVICES 999 (NG999)

KUALA LUMPUR, 1 JULY 2024 – TM and the Government of Malaysia today signed an agreement to develop and operate the nation’s new emergency response system, the Next Generation Emergency Services 999 (NG999). This will serve as a replacement for the existing MERS999.   Witnessed by Deputy Minister of Communications, YB Teo Nie Ching, the agreement was signed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Communications, Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Md Isa and TM One's Executive Vice President, Shazurawati Abd Karim. Also in attendance was TM’s Group Chief Executive Officer (“Group CEO”) Amar Huzaimi Md Deris. NG999 is an integrated strategic digital system that will enhance the sharing of resources and data between emergency responders and relevant central agencies. The new system will integrate web-based digital maps, caller IDs, geolocation services and mobile smart apps into emergency incident handling, helping to improve emergency response time nationwide. NG999 is an initiative to upgrade the existing MERS999, delivering more efficient and swifter emergency responses in the future. “TM’s comprehensive role will cover network and platform infrastructure, call management, and other support services, allowing us to provide continuous efficacy to the public and emergency responders. This opportunity to revitalise our emergency services is another milestone in TM’s commitment towards Digital Malaysia by leveraging the advancement of AI, reflecting our aspiration to become a Digital Powerhouse by 2030.”   Malaysia’s emergency responses have transformed significantly driven by the growing use of mobile and smart devices. The implementation of Malaysia’s world class NG999 system follows the latest international best practices such as the European Emergency Number Association’s NG112 and the National Emergency Number Association’s NG911 in North America. NG999 will also leverage advanced technologies including data analytics and AI to deliver swifter and more effective emergency responses. This ensures that in critical moments, emergency responders can make every second count. Tapping into the experiences of various Government and law enforcement agencies, emergency dispatchers and TM, the enhancement to the nation’s emergency call services is not just a technology upgrade but a reaffirmation of TM’s commitment to serve the nation. Aligning with the country’s increasing mobile usage, TM will introduce a new mobile app for NG999 that enables updates through text, photos and videos for registered users. This will enhance communications between callers and emergency responders, helping the latter in their tactical deployment.

TM Committed For Success Of TVET Madani

Following the official launch of ‘Portal TVET Madani’ and the exchange of Memorandum of Collaboration with the Government today, TM has reaffirmed its commitment to the success of TVET Madani through its tailored vocational education modules along with RM3.5 million contribution for training facilities and scholarship.   TM is presently in the final stage of discussions with several TVET institutions to form partnerships that will help transform these institutions into industry-ready technical development centres, towards enhancing the employability of their graduates.   This will be achieved through the introduction of industry-relevant modules on fibre networks and digital skillsets, the certification of trainers aligning to industry standards, as well as examinations for student certification.   The company plans to develop highly qualified and experienced instructors among its partner institutions to provide expert guidance, especially for B40 students, throughout their vocational journey, and to offer mentorship and support to help them succeed.   TM also plans to equip its partner institutions with access to requisite facilities, relevant modern equipment and technology that will provide students with hands-on learning experience that prepares them for real-world fibre network and digital work.   TM shall invest RM2.5 million to upgrade the facilities and equipment to selected TVET institutions and a further RM1 million in scholarships for students from the B40 group.  As a start, this will facilitate employment opportunities for close to 400 graduates per year to work within its business eco-system.   “TM is pleased to announce its commitment to the Government’s TVET Madani initiative through a comprehensive programme that will address the entire value chain. With our strong focus on skills development and industry-relevant training, TM is determined to transform lives and bridge the gap between education and employment for a digitally skilled future workforce,” said Datuk Imri Mokhtar, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM.   “Across TM’s eco-system, we have over 430 fibre contractor partners, 880 vendors and over 90 TM 5G Sphere technology partners that will provide graduates close to 400 skilled job openings in the near future.   “Vocational education will continue to play a crucial role in nurturing a skilled workforce and driving Malaysia’s digital economic growth. By equipping young Malaysians with the practical knowledge and skills needed in our telco and technology sector, we aim to empower the next generation of skilled talents to pursue meaningful careers and contribute to the development of communities and the nation,” he concluded.

TM Announces Upcoming Change In MD / Group CEO

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM), is pleased to announce a change in its executive leadership effective 1 August 2023. The change sees Amar Huzaimi Md Deris as the new Managing Director / Group CEO of TM, succeeding Datuk Imri Mokhtar, who completes his 3-year term on 31 July 2023.   Currently heading TM's domestic and global wholesale business, Amar is another example of TM's home-grown talent, after Datuk Imri.  Beginning his career with TM after graduating in 1998, Amar’s roles have ranged from financial control, internal audit, corporate and regulatory affairs, Group CEO’s office, culminating in his current P&L position at TM Global. His strategic vision, combined with operational experience and grasp of global leading technologies, ideally positions him to steer TM's evolution from a Telco to a TechCo.   His achievements have not gone unnoticed, as evidenced by his recognition as one of CPA Australia's 40 young business leaders (2012) and by Capacity Media's 'Power 100' list in wholesale carrier community (2019, 2023). These accolades further attest to his leadership capabilities and the promising future he holds at the helm of TM.   Speaking about his upcoming role, Amar said, "Datuk Imri has set the right path for TM, with the strengthened foundation from the turnaround and pursuit of new growth areas – charting the shift from a Telco to a TechCo.
