TM Wins Big at PC.Com Awards 2023
TM continued to solidify its position as Malaysia’s most trusted converged telco and technology company, when it was recognised with four (4) main awards at PC.com Awards 2023 held recently, including CEO of the Year award, won by its Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Imri Mokhtar, making the night a special and memorable one for the Company.
The other three (3) awards included “Best Fixed Broadband Service Provider” by Unifi, Unifi Business secured “Best Business Fixed Broadband Service Provider” and “Best Enterprise Telco” went to TM One.
Present to receive the awards on behalf of TM were Shazurawati Abd Karim, Executive Vice President, TM One; Anand Vijayan, Executive Vice President, Unifi; and Ts. Mohamad Yusman Ammeran, Head of SME, Unifi Business, along with the CEO of the Year award winner Datuk Imri Mokhtar.
When accepting the CEO of the Year award, Datuk Imri said: “I am receiving this award on behalf of our 19,000 strong Warga TM nationwide. This award truly belongs to all Warga TM. Your camaraderie and your commitment is an inspiration to me and to everyone.
“I would like to extend our utmost appreciation to all our customers - our home, SME and enterprise customers - for your trust in TM to serve your needs. A special appreciation also goes to our delivery ecosystem, including our partners. Without all of you, we couldn't have achieved what we have achieved, and we couldn’t overcome the obstacles that we had overcome. So once again, thank you very much to everyone.” He further thanked PC.com for the accolade and acknowledgement.

unifi TV grows premium content offerings with new MangoTV and SIAR
UNIFI TV has expanded its offerings to include MangoTV, one of Mainland China’s leading online video platforms, and SIAR, a local channel that also has on-demand streaming app features for high-quality classic Malay films. Adding to its premium channels and existing streaming apps including Disney+ Hotstar, beIN SPORTS CONNECT, WeTV and Lionsgate Play, the new offerings will bring something for everyone within a single subscription, which can all be streamed over a single unifi Plus Box. These additions also strengthen unifi’s value proposition of having the largest selection of streaming apps –18 app partners in total by November 2022. “MangoTV and SIAR are quality additions to unifi TV’s international and local offerings. With MangoTV customers able to switch to other apps for free, customers can access a wider variety of content and have control over their entertainment selections – enabling them to customise their preferred content,” said Anand Vijayan, TM’s Chief Commercial Officer and EVP, unifi. Starting 6 September, unifi TV has also launched two new Ultimate Pack promotions. It’s popular variety TV shows include titles such as: Call Me by Fire, Ride on Wave, and Hello Saturday. Ranked among the Top 5 video apps in Mainland China, MangoTV offers up to 18 language subtitles and dubbed versions, making it accessible to all viewers. The upgraded option via unifi TV features a simpler interface and enhanced functions, as well as HD videos and panoramic sound for a more immersive viewing experience. unifi TV subscribers will also enjoy VIP access to selected premium episodes, special features, and HD-quality streaming. “By cultivating its core competitiveness through self-produced content, MangoTV has gone through a journey of exclusiveness, uniqueness and originality. Starting 1 September, MangoTV will be bundled for free with unifi’s Ruby Plus Pack. SIAR to curate largest archive of Malaysian retro films With more than 150 classic Malaysian films and growing, SIAR is a local streaming service boasting one of the largest local communities of cinema-lovers in the country. Showcasing 12 titles scheduled thematically every month, the channel takes audiences from ages 25 and above back to the nostalgia of yesteryear. Ali Agung, Chief Executive Officer of SIAR said, “With the presence of SIAR on unifi TV, local classic films will be given a new lease on life in line with current technological developments. SIAR is a digital film archive that brings together hundreds of classic Malay films from the 1970s to the 2000s that audiences can enjoy legally. We hope that customers will appreciate local classic films that have entertained their hearts for decades such as Mr Os’ films (e.g Mr Os, Adik and Awang Spanar), AR Badul’s films (e.g Si Badol, Panglima Badol and Guru Badul), Fauziah Ahmad Daud’s films (e.g Ceritaku Ceritamu, Azura and Ali Setan) and many more.” unifi TV subscribers can enjoy this additional channel with unifi TV’s Ultimate Pack and Aneka Plus Pack. TM Global Expands Network Infrastructure To Boost High-Speed Connectivity For Sabah And Sarawak
KUALA LUMPUR, 30 October 2023 – TM Global, the wholesale domestic and international business arm of TM, today announced the successful deployment of two additional International Internet Gateways (IGW) in Sabah and Sarawak. These IGWs will serve as crucial hubs for international Internet traffic exchange, reflecting the business’ commitment to continuously expand its local network infrastructure and offer high-speed Internet connectivity in East Malaysia. This network expansion will enable TM’s customers in East Malaysia and the neighbouring region to access global internet traffic via the most efficient route. By reducing the need to route traffic back to West Malaysia, these IGWs will significantly enhance connectivity speed and reliability for businesses, service providers and their end-customers. The two IGWs are located in Penampang (Sabah) and Stampin (Sarawak), strengthening TM Global’s existing Internet Exchange (IX) nodes across Sabah and Sarawak. The existing nodes in Sabah are in Kota Kinabalu, Inanam, Elopura, Menggatal and Putatan. Meanwhile, in Sarawak the nodes are in Kuching, Bintulu, Miri, Petra Jaya, Kuala Baram and Tabuan Jaya. Commenting on the initiative, Khairul Liza Ibrahim, TM Global’s Executive Vice President said, “As a strategic partner to enable Malaysia’s digital agenda, the deployment of these new IGWs reinforces our mission to connect Malaysia globally. “More importantly, these IGWs help bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak, benefitting densely populated areas and enhancing Internet coverage for communities in smaller towns and remote locations. TM PLEDGES RM4 MILLION FOR FLOOD RELIEF AND RECOVERY EFFORTS
KUALA LUMPUR, 16 December 2024 – TM announced at least RM4 million allocation, including cash assistance, to support immediate flood relief efforts for affected customers, communities, and employees nationwide. This is in support of the Sumbangan Ihsan MADANI initiative, aimed at ensuring timely support for those in need. TM installed complimentary Wi-Fi services at various flood relief centres (PPS) to ensure uninterrupted communication for flood victims and PPS’ administration. At the same time, TM’s network restoration team is working tirelessly to restore services for customers impacted by the recent monsoon flood especially in the East Coast region. This involves efforts to immediately divert key network elements for infrastructure that have been destroyed by the flood to minimise service downtime for the Government, enterprises and consumers. TM understands the challenges faced by the flood victims. Therefore, to ease their hardship, TM is committed to provide additional supports for the affected Unifi Home customers which include: • Free replacement of damaged Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and network components, • A one (1) month subscription rebate for affected customers, and • An extension of credit terms to 60 days without service suspension. Through its social impact foundation, Yayasan TM (YTM) mobilised medical aid, food and other necessities with the support of its social impact partners. As Co-Secretariat and a member of the GLC/GLIC Disaster Response Network (GDRN) coalition, YTM assisted over 18,400 individuals via various initiatives including the MOF-GDRN Bantu Fund, to assist affected communities. Amar Huzaimi Md Deris, Group Chief Executive Officer of TM, emphasised the company’s dedication during this time of need. “We stand in solidarity with our customers, communities, and employees during these challenging times. Beyond restoring connectivity, our focus is on providing meaningful assistance to those affected, ensuring they can rebuild their lives with greater resilience. “We deeply appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers as we work to restore our networks, despite challenges due to power outages and damaged equipment in certain locations. Rest assured, our dedicated teams are fully committed to resolve these as swiftly as possible. To bolster our efforts, we have deployed the 56 Rejimen Semboyan Pakar Telekom Askar Wataniah, a team of TM volunteers, to provide on-ground assistance, deliver emergency services, and expedite restoration works. “TM is grateful to serve alongside the Ministry of Communications, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM) and GDRN members in supporting collective efforts to assist communities in need. We extend our heartfelt thanks to these agencies and social impact partners for their dedication and collaboration in ensuring timely and effective support. “Through these partnerships, we supported more than 28,000 individuals via various disaster relief and preparedness programmes, ensuring faster distribution of aid across the country. We remain steadfast in our efforts to restore connectivity and essential telecommunications services and aiding recovery for those affected by the floods," concluded Amar. Earlier last week, Amar visited flood-affected areas in Kelantan and Terengganu, including the Central Disaster Operations Control Centre (PKOB) in Kota Bharu. During his visit, he handed over additional care packages to be stored at the control centre. These care packages will be mobilised to affected areas and distributed to the flood victims as needed. In support of its employees, TM launched an internal crowdfunding initiative to help provide affected Warga TM with essential home amenities, ensuring they could resume their daily lives as quickly as possible. This initiative aligns with TM's "Ini Cara Kita" culture statement, embodying the spirit of caring and togetherness. Additionally, TM extended financial aid to 131 Warga TM whose homes were damaged by the floods. Early flood aid and damage claims have already been disbursed, with further assistance underway. The company urges everyone to prioritise safety during this challenging season and remains committed to restoring essential services and aiding long-term recovery.
