TM Joins Asia Link Cable System Consortium To Boost Submarine Cable Capacity From Malaysia To Asia
KUALA LUMPUR, 14 September 2023 - TM Global, the domestic and international wholesale business arm of TM, solidified its commitment to advancing Malaysia’s digital landscape by announcing its recent participation as a consortium member of the Asia Link Cable System (ALC). This strategic move positions Malaysia as one of the key destinations connecting Malaysia to Hong Kong SAR.

TM’s entry into the consortium was made official during the signing of the Construction and Maintenance Agreement (C&MA) with all consortium members held in Penang recently. The current seven members from the ASEAN and North Asia regions include Singapore Telecommunications Limited (Singtel); China Telecom Global Limited (CTG); China Telecommunications Corporation (CTC); Globe Telecom (Globe) and DITO Telecommunity Corporation (DITO) of the Philippines, Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN) of Brunei and Global Transit Singapore Pte. Ltd (GTS).
Commenting on this partnership, Khairul Liza Ibrahim, TM Global’s covering Executive Vice President said, “Our inclusion in the ALC consortium marks another milestone in TM Global’s ongoing efforts to position Malaysia as a digital hub in the region.
“Malaysia emerged as the region’s top destination for technological investment, particularly data centre businesses. Leveraging our strategic location, the ALC is expected to attract more international submarine cables to land in Malaysia and entice global technology players to leverage our data centres.
“This strengthens our efforts to provide reliable, diversified and uninterrupted global connectivity solutions to customers. It also enables us to better support the deployment of hyperscalers’ data centres, and deliver to the future requirements of 5G networks in the country,” she added
Spanning a total distance of approximately 7,200 km with an initial design capacity of 24Tbps, the Cable Landing Station (CLS) for ALC will be strategically located at TM Exchange Kuala Sedili, and will capitalise on its proximity to TM’s Iskandar Puteri data centre in Johor.
The Sedili CLS is the sixth international CLS in the country, including Kuala Muda, Morib, Mersing, Cherating and Melaka. Its construction is projected to be completed by 2025.
With 32 owned and leased submarine cable systems spanning more than 340,000 kilometres around the globe, TM is committed to providing the highest service performance and best quality experience to customers domestically and internationally.

TM Reinforces Long-term Value Creation at its 41st AGM
KUALA LUMPUR, 28 May 2026 – Telekom Malaysia Berhad (“TM” or “the Group”) reaffirmed that it remains on track towards its aspiration of becoming a Digital Powerhouse by 2030 through disciplined execution of its PWR 2030 strategy. Building on this progress, TM is further advancing AI and sustainability to drive long-term value creation for all stakeholders.The update was shared at TM’s 41st Annual General Meeting (“AGM”) held recently at Menara TM, Kuala Lumpur. The AGM was chaired by Chairman, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih, alongside the Board of Directors and Managing Director and Group Chief Executive Officer, Amar Huzaimi Md Deris.In 2025, the Group recorded revenue growth of 1.4% to RM11.9 billion, EBIT of RM2.0 billion and strong operating cash flow of RM2.5 billion. Total Shareholders Return (“TSR”) stood at a healthy 23.5%, alongside a 21% increase in share price. This reflects sustained value creation and growing investor confidence in TM’s long-term growth trajectory.Approximately RM2.0 billion in shareholder and economic value was distributed during the year. This included approximately RM1.2 billion returned to shareholders through dividends, equivalent to 31.0 sen per share, as well as approximately RM750 million contributed through taxes, zakat and other socioeconomic initiatives in support of Malaysia’s digital economy and national development.The Group reiterated its revised dividend policy with a minimum payout of 75% of Profit After Tax and Non-Controlling Interests (“PATAMI”). Effective from the first quarter of 2026, dividends will be declared and paid on a quarterly basis, reinforcing its commitment to consistent and sustainable shareholder returns.Commenting on TM’s continued transformation journey, Amar said, “To strengthen how we create value, we are accelerating AI and digital innovation capabilities while embedding sustainability more deeply across our business, operations and strategic investments. This strengthens our ability to support evolving digital needs across businesses, communities and the nation.”During the year, the Group strengthened its role as an orchestrator of Malaysia’s AI and digital ecosystem by building the infrastructure, platforms and governance needed to support wider AI adoption. This includes AI-ready data centres, GPU-as-a-Service, cloud and cybersecurity capabilities, alongside AI-enabled solutions such as Vision AI, Smart Cities and Smart Urban Forestry for enterprises, the Government and global hyperscalers.Internally, AI adoption was accelerated through agentic AI contact centres, network modernisation and structured AI upskilling for employees. The Group also showcased practical AI use cases through AI-enabled integration supporting the AGM proceedings and an internally developed AI chatbot on its digital Integrated Annual Report website, enabling easier access to key report information. Reinforcing its commitment to responsible AI, TM became the first Malaysian telco certified under ISO/IEC 42001:2023 Artificial Intelligence Management System (“AIMS”).On sustainability, TM evolved its framework in 2025 to adopt the Triple Bottom Line approach of Prosperity, Planet and People. During the year, the Group generated RM135 million in revenue from low-carbon products and services, including green-certified data centres and digital solutions for MSMEs, while reducing carbon emissions by 34% from its 2019 baseline. Beyond its operations, TM continued to create positive impact through TM Future Skills, which reached 35 schools and equipped more than 7,000 students with digital education in STEM, coding, AI and 3D printing. The Group also advanced community-led initiatives, including efforts to transform Kampung Mukut, Tioman into Malaysia’s first Smart Eco Village through Jangkau Digital TM, as well as support for sepak takraw development and neurodivergent communities.TM’s continued commitment to good governance and sustainability received strong recognition locally and internationally. The Group achieved an S&P Global ESG score of 57/100, the highest among Malaysian telcos, maintained the highest FTSE4Good rating tier at 4 stars and retained its MSCI ESG Rating of “A”. It was also ranked in the Top 1% at the National Corporate Governance & Sustainability Awards (“NACGSA”) 2025, placing 7th out of 847 public-listed companies.“Having strengthened our foundations and built new digital capabilities over the past few years, we are now entering the next phase of growth. Indulge Your Sensory Experience At The Upcoming Immersio Festival Organised By Yayasan Tm And Filamen At Muzium Telekom
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) through its foundation arm, Yayasan TM (YTM) continues to support the nation's creative industry development by hosting IMMERSIO Festival in collaboration with Filamen at Muzium Telekom Kuala Lumpur. The festival is one of the unique large-scale Art & Technology experiential exhibitions to be staged in the city centering on New Media Art, NFT Crypto Art and Immersive Art, featuring more than 60 local digital artists and collectives from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor, Penang, Kelantan, Sabah and Sarawak. IMMERSIO was established in 2017 with the objective to bring together new media artists from around Kuala Lumpur and the region to exhibit their work marrying arts and technology. After a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the event is back for its fourth (4th) instalment. This month, the festival will occupy Muzium Telekom for the first time, throughout the 27,000 sqft venue in the heart of Kuala Lumpur with 12 immersive installations and 7 workshops as well as talks. Situated within the 94-years old heritage building, Muzium Telekom traces the history of telecommunications in Malaysia from the 1870s up to the present, and IMMERSIO with the theme Mengukir pays homage to the country's achievements in digital infrastructure. Bringing together like-minded emerging and well-established artists, YTM aims to create more meaningful and accessible relationships between people, cultural heritage and the digital world through art and technology. Among the line-up is the Kuala Lumpur based artist, Jun Ong's kinetic installation "Beacon", an expression of the sensorial response to the extinction of nature. Visitors are also invited to take a walk around the room featuring "In Soul in the Fabric of Society", an installation of songket handwoven fabrics by a collective of women weavers from Sarawak known as Tanoti, as well as art installation using fiber optic materials by Cheong See Min, a weaver and textile artist based in Johor. Walking into the exhibition, the visitors will experience Network, an audio installation of telecommunication soundbites from the classic landline telephone to 5G radio waves specially curated by artist duo iwaz and Martian Backline. Conceived partly in response to the Covid-19 crisis, which has been a time of isolation for many, the installation reminds us to be grateful for advancement of technologies that we often take for granted. YTM aims to transform this heritage museum into a vibrant and versatile public arts space that enable artists, collectors and art lovers to immerse themselves to experience these new art mediums in new exciting ways and at the same time provide a platform for inspiring talents including TM Group's own Multimedia University (MMU) students to showcase their creativity and innovation at Muzium Telekom. Holding on to the higher principle of ensuring that no one gets left behind in this digital age, YTM is also exhibiting the extraordinary artworks from WE&I and Nakseni gifted artists in the Virtual Reality (VR) Gallery. The festival will be also featuring the artwork by Rashwin Kalithas, a five-year old special needs young artist that will be receiving a recognition by The Malaysia Book of Records for the "Youngest Autistic Child to Hold Solo Digital Arts Exhibition" at this Media & Partner Night held at Muzium Telekom.
