Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) via its award winning IPTV service, HyppTV and KRU Studios Sdn Bhd today officially unveils 'Rockers', Malaysia's first reality TV show that searches for the most talented Rock & Roll singer, a superstar with a "Rocker's DNA". The show, produced by KRU Studios, is available exclusively on HyppSensasi, HyppTV Channel 116.
The new programme was officially unveiled by Jeremy Kung, Executive Vice President, New Media, TM, and Norman Abdul Halim, Chief Executive Officer, KRU Studios Sdn Bhd in a press conference at Hot Jam Cafe, Cyberjaya.
Commenting on the new show, Jeremy said, "'Rockers' is our first foray in the production of reality TV competition. It reflects our continuous commitment to offer not only the best of world class entertainment and sports programme, but also high quality and unique television programmes including reality game show, telemovies and drama series available exclusively on HyppSensasi, our first local entertainment channel on HyppTV."
"'Rockers' offers not just music, but also features the life and drama as the show follows the journey of the finalists in their quest to become Malaysia's next rock superstar. We believe the mass appeal of rock music genre in Malaysia will catch the attention of the young as well as the "young at heart" viewers to watch the diary daily episodes and the weekly concerts on HyppSensasi, HyppTV Channel 116. They can also catch the show on HyppTV Everywhere mobile app, so they'll not miss it even when they are on-the-move. Existing HyppTV customers can subscribe to HyppTV Aneka Pack which carries HyppSensasi channel at an affordable price of RM30 per month with no additional HD fee," he added.
Meanwhile, Norman said, "Based on our research, rock is the most popular genre in Malaysia with massive followings across all age groups and ethnic backgrounds. The winner for this talent search will win RM50,0000 cash and sign a recording contract with KRU Music and a chance to record a single in Los Angeles.
Registration for entries are now open, and 'Rockers' is looking for contestants between 18 and 28 years old, who are able to sing well in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
