Free Speed Upgrade (Broadband Improvement Plan)​


1) ​What is Free Speed Upgrade (Broadband Improvement Plan)​

  • Free Speed Upgrade (Broadband Improvement Plan) is an appreciation campaign in 2017 to all TM loyal customers from residential segment who have subscribed TM services by 28th February 2017. 
  • This is part of TM initiative under Broadband Improvement Plan in conjunction of the Prime Minister’s announcement during Budget 2017.
  • Customer will be upgraded to the next speed at same the current price. ​

2) Who is eligble for free speed upgrade?

All UniFi and Streamyx customers from residential segment who subscribed TM services by 28th February 2017 is eligible for free speed upgrade except to the following Customers who are under the following circumstances / promotion

  • Customer who has subscribed to maximum speed. For example: 100mbps
  • Technical limitation for speed upgrade at the service area;
  • Customers who has enjoyed free hot upgrade in 2016

3) When will I get the Free Speed Upgrade?

TM will performed the upgrading process in phases throughout 2017  starting from February 2017 and it subject to technical availability where the TM services and eligible speed upgrade available at the time during the speed upgrade exercise by TM.

4) Can I request to expedite my Free Speed Upgrade?

The arrangement of speed upgrade is based on the network and system readiness. Therefore, TM is not able to entertain such request. 

5) What should I do to ensure a smooth upgrading?

You are advised to pay outstanding bills and complete any other requests for example relocation and change of service owner to ensure smooth process of the Free Speed Upgrade.

6) Will I receive any notification on the upgrading? 

Yes. You will be notified via SMS after the Speed Upgrade.

RM0.00 TM: Congratulations! We are happy to inform that your Internet speed has been upgraded from xMbps to xMbps for FREE. Please turn off your modem for 10 mins and switch it back on to complete the update. Happy surfing! 

7) Can I choose not to upgrade my package? 

Yes, you can continue with your current speed and pay the same price. There will be no price reduction or discount given to you. 

8) Is there any additional costs if a new CPE is required?

  • The migration will be seamless, thus customers’ current CPE should be able to support the upgrade. However, there may be cases where TM will need to send installers to change customer’s current CPE.
  • Only customers upgrading to UniFi PRO PLAN (100Mbps) will need to change their CPE. 
  • All standard installation and CPE (if required) will be provided for FREE as part of the upgrade.
  • Non-standard installation will be charged as per current practice as stated in TM website.
  • For customers who have lost their HyppTV setup box, they may request for a new unit with an additional cost, which will be charged to their UniFi bill. Alternatively, customers can choose for 1-year contract renewal.

9) Will my service contract be renewed?  

No, your service contract will not be renewed following the upgrading exercise.  

10) How about CPE warranty extension?​

No contract to be refreshed, therefore, CPE warranty will not be extended following the upgrading exercise. 

11) What should I do after the upgrading has been completed? 

​You need to restart your modem in order to enjoy the new speed. 

12) Does the speed upgrade still available if I requested for relocation?  

  • Yes, you will still enjoy Free Speed upgrade at the new premise, subject to technical and network availability.
  • In the case that the upgrade is not possible at the new premise, you will remain with the original UniFi plan. 
  • The price will also remain the same without any discount.  ​

13) Does the speed upgrade still available if I requested for change of owner?  

Yes, the new owner will enjoy the free speed upgrade if the previous owner have not yet received the Free Speed Upgrade.​

14) After the upgrade, what will happen to the my other services (ie TM homeline, HyppTV pack etc?)

Other services remain unchanged. No contract renewal for the other services.

15) Can I request for rebate if I’m the last batch of the customers to be upgraded ?  
  • No, there will be no rebate given to you.  
  • The Free Speed upgrade done in stages starting from February 2017 until December 2017 and it subject to technical and network availability at your area.

16) Will my credit limit change following the upgrading? 

Yes. You will be notified via SMS or email on your new credit limit.
