As the Rio 2016 Olympic Games fever grows among sports fans, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) joins in the hype with the Company embarking on an exciting campaign which features on-ground activities as well as online contests for all Malaysians to participate in.
The campaign aims to not only spread the love for sports and support for our Malaysian contingent; but also further demonstrates TM's commitment to provide the best experience for all sports fans in Malaysia. Among the on-ground and online activities that will be held is the flagship Life Made Easier Road Tour, where TM will exhibit its latest consumer offerings in a fun and casual atmosphere; while at the same time promoting its TM Team Malaysia initiative through sports-related activities during the tour.
In addition, TM Team Malaysia will once again gather and mobilise Malaysian fans - in support of our national athletes who will be participating at the Rio 2016 in August - by organising its trademark running event, the "TM Team Malaysia Fan Run" on 17 July 2016 in Putrajaya. Leading towards the event, TM is also organising the Team Malaysia Campus Road Tour 2016 which is currently ongoing until the end of June to garner the support from students of tertiary institutions nationwide, calling them to be part of the TM Team Malaysia chanters and cheer for the Malaysian Olympic-bound athletes.
That's not all; TM via its award-winning IPTV service, HyppTV, will broadcast the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on HyppSports HD channels (HyppTV Channels 720 - 726) - as the Official IPTV Broadcaster for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Malaysia. The broadcast of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games marks HyppTV's first ever offering of the global sporting event.
Commenting on this, Jeremy Kung, Executive Vice President, TM New Media, said: "We are very excited to be able to bring a world class sporting event to our HyppTV viewers for the first time. Being a matter of national interest and in line with TM's Team Malaysia initiative, HyppTV shows support to our national athletes by providing viewers non-stop free "live" coverage and exclusive Rio 2016 content, where they will be able to catch the moments when our Malaysian flags are raised at the games first hand."
"As the Official IPTV Broadcaster for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in Malaysia, our customers will get to watch all 42 Rio 2016 games across 8 dedicated Live TV and Interactive Channels on HyppSports HD (HyppTV Channels 720 - 726) from 25 July until 2 September 2016. On top of that, they will also be able to watch the live sporting action when they are away from home on our HyppTV Everywhere mobile application, anytime and anywhere during the Olympics month. This is HyppTV's aspiration of being a true digital champion for our customers, offering the best content variety whether on demand or linear while having the best TV viewing experience," he added.
Sharing the excitement, Izlyn Ramli, Vice President, Group Brand and Communication, TM, said: "As the nation's Convergence Champion, we are excited to bring the Rio 2016 Olympic Games to Malaysians, not only through our services and digital platforms, but also through our unique TM Team Malaysia initiative that unites the sports fans and Malaysians across all walks of life to support our national athletes. Recently, at the Anugerah Sukan Negara, TM Team Malaysia was declared as the Official Supporters of Malaysian Athletes by the Minister of Youth and Sports - an honour our 850,000 followers to date proudly carries. Even if we may not be physically there in Rio to cheer for the athletes, we are always behind the athletes, to help ignite their spirit and give them that extra boost to perform their best when bearing our national flag at the Games."
"When it comes to the Olympic Games, no doubt sports content is key but digital and social media is increasingly becoming more important in engaging with fans. This is why we have created Malaysia's only Digital Platform for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. As our audience shifts online for Olympics content, we will be ready to provide them with the most rewarding experience beyond sports. Through the platform, our audience can experience the culture around the Olympic Games, get live updates direct from Rio and see the games from our athletes' perspectives. We'll be delivering this and so much more via a dedicated website – www.tm.com.my/Rio2016 -- together with Team Malaysia on social media (Twitter @TeamMsia and official Facebook page www.facebook.com/TeamMalaysia)," Izlyn continued.
Leading up to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, this May, HyppTV will broadcast various Olympic-focused TV programmes on HyppSports HD, which include:
