1. Premium Rate Service
  600 PREMIUM RATE SERVICE is a service where callers can obtain various information via telephone with a flat tariff irrespective of distance.

2. Term used in 600 service
 
a) NETWORK PROVIDER (NP)
  The party who provides network, coordination, billing and infrastructure, for example Telekom Malaysia Berhad.
b) SERVICE PROVIDER (SP)
  The party who provides the service, manages the programs and maintains services, for example the  Licensed Service Providers.
c) INFORMATION PROVIDER (IP)
  The party who provides content of the information for any premium rate service to the service providers.

3. Licensed service provider
  Block numbers approved by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) differentiates licensed service providers.

4. Role of service provider
 
a. Arrange for the approval of the infoline number from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
b. Provide, operate and maintain all hardware and software for the infoline's development.
c. Develop IVR system for the infoline service, based on the information provided by the Information Provider.
d. Execute the Advertising and Promotional activities, with the help from IP.

5. Differences between TM Infolines and other service provider
 
TM
OTHER SPs
Information provided is NOT entertainment based, for example community services, business related, educational and health information.
Most of the SPs offer information which are entertainment based, for example Who Wants To Be a Millionaire. A few SPs offer charity infoline like Titian Harapan.
Tariff used are low, ranges from 39 cents per minute to RM1.95 per minute.
Tariff used are relatively high, compared to Telekom Malaysia ranges from RM1.95 per minute to RM3.90 per minute.
Offers TM Infoline services, which operate under Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system or Public Audiotext (PAX) system.
Offers various kinds of infolines, which operate under various kinds of Audiotext Hosting services that are available in Malaysia.

6. How to become a service provider?
 
i. Have an AUDIOTEXT HOSTING SERVICE (AHS) class license from MCMC to operate the service. For online application, visit www.cmc.gov.my
ii. Have the 600 block numbers allocated by MCMC.
iii. Have type-approved equipment to run the system, and connected to TM’s network via leased line (E1 circuit, 2 MB). To apply for a leased line, contact the Domestic Carrier Service- +603 2240 8100.
iv. Provide and restore the database system (Voice processing system and Call handling equipment).
v. Have an interconnected agreement with TMB.
vi. Agree for a revenue sharing with TMB as in the agreement.

7. Role of information provider
 
i. Provide accurate and updated information to be incorporated into Service Provider’s equipment. The Information Provider is responsible for the content of the information provided by the service provider.
ii. Participate in the development of the voice prompt system
iii. Participate in the Advertising & Promotional activities
iv. Participate in the launching of the new service
v. Participate in the enhancement of the service

9. How to become an information provider?
 
a. Contact any Licensed Service Provider
b. Sign an agreement with SP regarding the proposed infoline service

To be an Information Provider for TM:
*Prepare and present a proposal paper on the infoline service to Telekom Malaysia Bhd.

The proposal must include:
i. Company’s name
ii. Nature of service provided by the company
iii. Nature of the proposed infoline service
iv. Reasons for this proposal
