How it works
Automatic vehicle location is a technologically advanced method of remote vehicle tracking and monitoring using GPS. Each vehicle is equipped with a GPS module that receives signals from a series of satellites and calculates its current geographical location, speed and direction. This information is then transmitted to the AVL Control Centre or can optionally be stored for later retrieval. The control centre then relays this information to customers via the Internet or through Local or Wide Area Networks (LAN/WAN). A black box or a GSM handphone is placed within the vehicle for tracking purposes.
