UniFi, the next generation high speed broadband service from TM is in pole position to deliver affordable and holistic communications and connectivity to Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Its low entry bar coupled with some of the lowest communications rates ever introduced in Malaysia is targeted to deliver a compelling proposition to businesses that are located in fast expanding UniFi coverage areas.
“UniFi for business provides better service levels for SMEs which will enable them to maximise the use of next-generation online applications and services via TM’s high-speed broadband network at affordable price points -- delivering a quantum leap in terms of enhanced efficiency and productivity, expanded sales and marketing channels, and lower hardware and software investment. UniFi offers a compelling value proposition for businesses such as ubiquitous networked connectivity enabling them to exploit the full potential of already familiar enterprise-class communication tools such as hosted web-based group messaging, Customer Relationship Management, Enterprise Resource Planning and Supply Chain Management,” said Shanti Jusnita Johari, Executive Vice President SME, TM.
“High speed broadband connections would enable SMEs to connect to "cloud" services. These are applications or tools that are stored on an internet server and can be accessed as and when a business needs them. This is frequently far more cost effective than if a company itself purchases expensive software which they would only use occasionally. Businesses need higher bandwidth, speed, reliability and security of next generation connectivity, to fully exploit the possibilities of cloud computing,” Shanti added.
UniFi for business comprises the following packages: BIZ5 at RM199 a month, BIZ10 at RM599 a month and BIZ20 at RM899 a month. Each package comes with a host of complimentary products and services such as a free DECT phone, a WiFi Business Getaway, a Streamyx Zone account and Add-On Value Added Services (VAS) options that include hosting, web storage capacities of up to 5GB along with 2GB e-mail account, messaging, security and additional fixed IP addresses.
Through UniFi for business, subscribers enjoy symmetrical data uploads and downloads, UNCAPPED and UNLIMITED data usage and also the lowest call rates for businesses in Malaysia -- at a flat rate of 5 sen per minute to all TM fixed lines nationwide and 15 sen per minute to all mobiles and other fixed line operators.
Some of these businesses may currently be utilising consumer grade broadband solutions for business critical requirements – a mismatch either due to budgeting concerns or through lack of service availability.
“In that sense, UniFi for business is certainly one of the nation’s important catalysts for the creation of a knowledge economy,” added Shanti.
UniFi was launched in March this year in selected areas around the Klang Valley. Since then, TM’s service rollout has reached 26 areas nationwide. The areas include residential areas in Taman Tun Dr Ismail, Bangsar, Wangsa Maju, Putrajaya and Damansara in the Federal Territory; Shah Alam, Subang Jaya, Sungai Buloh, Puchong and Cyberjaya in Selangor and industrial sites such as Kulim Hi-Tech Park in Kedah, Bayan Baru in Penang, Senai and Permas in Johor.
There are over 16,000 UniFi customers to-date with more than 2,400 of them SME customers.
At the end of September, TM’s UniFi service rollout has reached 600,000 premises passed nationwide. UniFi is being progressively rolled out to reach 750,000 premises passed by the end of 2010, and 1.3mil premises passed by the end of 2012.
Signed in September 2008, the RM11.3 billion national HSBB project is a Public-Private-Partnership between TM and the Government of Malaysia to develop next generation high speed broadband infrastructure and services for the nation. TM is investing up RM8.9 billion into the project while the Government is contributing RM2.4 billion on an incurred claims basis based on project milestones reached by TM.
