As the saying goes, with a healthy body comes a healthy mind. Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today extended that belief by supporting the inaugural ‘TM – Langkawi International Mountain Bike Challenge 2010’ (LIMBC 2010) to reach out to the community and promote healthy lifestyle among Malaysians especially our youths.
To announce TM’s involvement in the sporting event, a press conference was held today at Menara TM together with the organizer of LIMBC 2010, Human Voyage (M) Sdn. Bhd. At the press conference, TM was represented by Rozalila Abdul Rahman, Chief Marketing Officer, TM while Human Voyage (M) Sdn. Bhd was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Malik Mydin.
Speaking at the press conference, Rozalila said: “TM is glad to be able to play our role as the Title Sponsor for the event. Through this involvement, it gives us the opportunity to promote healthy and active lifestyle to the community, particularly the youths. This is part of our Corporate Responsibility (CR) pillars in contributing towards the community and nation-building. By supporting an event such as LIMBC 2010, we hope to create the awareness and spark the interest among the youths towards mountain biking. As mountain biking activities are usually held at hilly terrains, hopefully, we can also instil the concern and appreciation towards the environment among our young generation. Besides that, cycling can also be adopted as one of family activities during weekends and public holidays to further strengthen the bond between family members.”
“Promoting healthy and active lifestyle is also an important workplace practice in TM. We organize various activities to enhance work-life balance among our employees throughout the year. This include the annually held Karnival Sukan TM and Hari Keluarga as well as other activities run by Kelab TM, either at the national level or even at the State level. In fact, as part of the sponsorship benefit, the organizer has opened the participation for LIMBC 2010 to TM employees and I would like to take this opportunity to encourage as many employees as possible to join and take up the challenge,” Rozalila added.
LIMBC 2010, a 2-day mountain bike competition, will take place at the scenic Kampung Tok Senik Resort in Langkawi, Kedah from 6 to 8 August 2010. As the Title Sponsor of the event, TM will be equipping LIMBC 2010’s Media Centre with IT facilities and telecommunications peripherals such as telephone, fax and broadband Internet connection.
