In its continuous effort to boost the development of e-learning in Malaysia, Telekom Smart School Sdn Bhd (TSS), a subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today launched a new multimedia contents authoring software for e-learning called LectureMAKER. LectureMAKER is an authoring tool to enable easy content creation equipped with various design kits.
The new product, LectureMAKER was officially launched by TSS Chairman, Fazlur Rahman Zainuddin. Also present at the launch were Zainudin Ismail, CEO of TSS and Joo Myung Yang, President of Daulsoft Co Ltd. Daulsoft Co Ltd is the software developer of LectureMAKER and TSS has been appointed as the sole distributor of LectureMAKER in Malaysia.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of LectureMAKER, Fazlur Rahman Zainuddin said: “LectureMAKER as an e-learning authoring software is the perfect tool and easy-to-use for those who are developing their own e-contents. I hope more e-content will be produced by the teaching fraternity and hence, will further flourish the online learning industry. This in turn, will increase the need for broadband among the academia. TM, as Malaysia’s leading new generation communications provider, will be an enabler to support the online learning environment by providing broadband services with higher bandwidth be it through Streamyx or our newly launched High Speed Broadband service, UniFi depending on bandwidth requirements and service availability.”
This latest e-learning software by TSS comes with various multimedia elements, including PowerPoint, Macromedia Flash, HTML and specialized learning contents editing tool which enable various format of lecture materials to be authored and edited conveniently. LectureMAKER comes with a complete solution for not only creating e-learning content but also for editing the media within it. The software comes fully loaded with the most advanced authoring features and multimedia editing tools to enable teachers and lecturers to develop effective coursework that’s exciting and engaging using multimedia, assessments, variable content and branching navigation.
Targeting at teachers, lecturers, trainers and academic communities, the software allows its users to perform direct editing and produce dynamic lecture materials, just like an expert. The materials are not limited to only text and graphics, but users can produce multimedia-rich contents including videos using microphones and web cameras and the materials can be edited in various ways, according to users’ creativity and requirements. Prior to the launch, TSS conducted a product seminar to introduce LectureMAKER attended by 150 participants from the e-Learning fraternity. The Product Seminar entitled ‘e-Content Evolution in e-Learning’ was conducted by three experienced guest speakers: Kelvin Loh Lih Fu, International Marketing Director of Daulsoft Co Ltd who presented a product briefing on LectureMAKER, Professor Dr Abdul Karim Alias, a lecturer from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) who spoke about e-Content development and Dr Norrizan Razali, Senior Manager from the Smart School Department of Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) who explained on Next Generation Learning.
TSS is a company experienced in building, developing and ensuring the success of the Smart School Pilot Project, a Flagship Application for the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC), together with the Ministry of Education and the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) from 1999 to 2002. TSS has developed the Web School Management System (WSMS) and Learning Management System (LMS) for the 88 smart schools since 2005. Overall, a total of over 2,000 Multimedia courseware titles have been developed for a variety of subjects such as English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mathematics, Science, ICT and specialized topics for the Ministry of Education, Government Departments and the private sector.
Besides building and developing multimedia courseware for projects, TSS is now expanding into the retail business of providing educational products from the current range of products with the latest being the multimedia authoring tools, LectureMAKER.
