Brampton Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (Brampton Holdings), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fraser & Neave (F&N) Holdings Bhd., today signed an agreement with Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) for the provisioning of infrastructure and communications facilities to Fraser Business Park (Phase II) located at Jalan Yew, Kuala Lumpur. It will enable tenants and residents of the business park to have access to state-of-the-art Information and Communication (ICT) facilities. This includes telephony, data and broadband connection with the latest fibre-to-the-office (FTTO) broadband connectivity infrastructure.
The agreement was signed by Cheah Hong Chong, General Manager, Properties Division of F&N Holdings Bhd. and Gan Mee Ling, Group Company Secretarial Manager, F&N Holdings Bhd. on behalf of Brampton Holdings, while TM was represented by Shanti Jusnita Johari, Executive Vice President of SME, TM and Mohamad Yusman Ammeran, General Manager of Marketing & Solutions Division, SME, TM.
The FTTO equipment set which represents an ICT Exchange at Fraser Business Park, provides tenants and owners with all telephony, a multitude of data lease options and reliable FTTO infrastructure. With FFTO connectivity, TM will be able to leverage on the infrastructure to cater HSBB services when it is made available later.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Cheah Hong Chong said, “Phase II of Fraser Business Park is the region’s first purpose-built ICT and multimedia business centre in Kuala Lumpur and is envisioned to become the leading IT hub in Malaysia. Thus, today’s collaboration with Telekom Malaysia is another step towards the realization of this vision.
“With the shared focus on providing value-adding and value-enhancing services, Telekom Malaysia and F&N are now moving forward from providing telephony and broadband services to also providing content rich applications that will increase the value of businesses in the complex,” he added.
“We want to give more focus in supporting the growth of businesses in Fraser Business Park and to improve customers’ experiences. For us, ICT plays a very important role to help tenants and owners create business opportunities and reduce costs by improving internal processes. It also promotes enhancement of their products and services through faster communication with customers. In this respect, vertical fibre optic backbones are provided to each building component of the project,” Cheah elaborated.
In her speech, Shanti Jusnita Johari lauded the concept of an ICT hub in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.
“Most of the tenants in the Business Park will be SMEs. With this strategic collaboration, TM will grab the opportunity to educate and spread the awareness on our products and services offerings among them. A whole range of offerings specially tailored for SMEs will be available, which will allow businesses in the Business Park to reach out to customers beyond the physical boundaries of the complex. With the network infrastructure that enables faster communications and 24/7 operations availability, TM will be able to play a major role in supporting the ICT hub and also attract more tenants to Zon.e and in addition, attracts more customers.”
“This initiative would be a good platform to promote TM SME’s business to local and international companies as well as emphasize the essential role of ICT in business development,” added Shanti.
Scheduled for completion at the end of 2009, Fraser Business Park (Phase II) offers e-centric retail, e-gaming and entertainment, multimedia, e-business, education, student hostel and hotel facilities.
Phase II targets a live-in population of 2,000 people with the HELP University College city campus catering to a student population of up to 5,000. The campus facilities include lecture theatres and auditorium, seminar and conference facilities, display and exhibition areas. The main feature of HELP’s campus is its comprehensive use of e-learning technology for teaching.
