With the agreement, the Johor e-Government system will be connected to TM’s state of the-art Metro E network that will enable the Johor State Government to utilize a networking solution on a full Private IP Infrastructure equipped with a class of service (COS) that gives prioritization for different IP applications. The Johor e-Government project consists of 18 Virtual Private Network (VPN) sites and 86 IP Value sites connecting various government departments in Johor.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Y.A.B. Dato’ Haji Abdul Ghani bin Othman, Chief Minister of Johor. Hamdan Ismail, Vice President, Government Sales, TM signed the Partnership Agreement on behalf of TM while MySysNet Sdn Bhd was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Sees Mohd Ali.
According to Hamdan Ismail, through the provision of Metro-E, the Johor State Government will be able to carry out its ICT initiatives throughout the state via a secure and flexible platform.
“TM’s Metro-E network has been provisioned in many other areas across the country, from university campuses to industrial parks, and this reflects the strength of the network. TM’s Metro-E network will increase the level of efficiency at state government offices and agencies. It will directly or indirectly stimulate foreign investment into the state of Johor. In addition, I would like to reaffirm TM’s commitment towards supporting and assisting the state government of Johor to achieve initiatives, as well as drive to continuously increase broadband penetration throughout the state.”
The ICT infrastructure solution implemented for the Johor e-Government Project covers three major initiatives, which include understanding of the solution needs, a complete portfolio of end-to-end services and a robust implementation methodology.
The compelling advantages of Metro-E network are four-fold:
Among the current business applications that are supported by Metro-E include Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, video streaming, video and audio conferencing, data recovery and data storage as well as network based Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Modelling (CAM) integration. Metro-E is protocol independent and widely available as the de facto enterprise (Local Area Network) LAN standard capable of supporting various types of business applications with its present network architecture. It is also capable of handling various traffic requirements be it in the form of voice, video or data seamlessly and efficiently.
Therefore, with the upgrade, Johor state government departments will be able to communicate better and more efficiently as this new technology also offers better data security, cost-efficient maintenance, guaranteed throughput, bandwidth scalability and future-proof investment. In short, the Johor state government will be able to increase its network capacity and operational efficiency with this upgrading.
TM’s Metro-E network and services are available for provisioning at all major cities throughout the country. For more information on TM’s Metro-E services or other TM products and services for the corporate and enterprise consumer segment, log on to TM’s corporate website at www.tm.com.my.
