TMIM HOSTS ADPAI CONFERENCE

TM Info-Media Sdn Bhd (TMIM), formerly known as Telekom Publications Sdn. Bhd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today hosted a conference for directory publishers of Asia, known as Asian Directory Publisher Association Incorporated (ADPAI), here in Malaysia.

Themed ‘Enhancing Leadership Position In Directional Media Industry’, the ADPAI Conference 2008 will address the current trend of digital and mobile media and this conference is a perfect avenue for the members of ADPAI to share their ideas and experience in moving forward in such competitive environment.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Conference, Khairussaleh Ramli, Chairman of TMIM said: “TMIM is proud to be able to host this annual conference here in Kuala Lumpur. In line with the objectives of ADPAI itself, we should use this conference to exchange management skills, knowledge and technology as well as business best practices and standards to improve the directory publishing industry in the region, with the ultimate aim at growing our business.”

This year’s conference saw the gathering of 78 participants from 14 countries with presentation papers by international speakers from Australia and the United States of America.

Some of the topics to be discussed in this year’s conference include Electronic directory, Mobile directory and monetizing search, among others.

ADPAI, a non-profit association comprises companies that are in the directory business in Asia, was formed in 1993. The association aims to strengthen the co-operation and establish wider networks among the directory publishers in Asia and initiate studies important to the industry. It also has the objectives of exchanging management skills, knowledge and technology as well as business best practices and standards between the members to improve the directory publishing industry in the region.

The association has more than 30 members from Asia and Middle-East countries which include Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Hong Kong, India, Sri Lanka, China, Macau, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Brunei, Fiji and Australia.

The ADPAI conference is held annually and hosted by a country member.

At the same event, TMIM sealed an agreement with PCCW Hong Kong Directory Limited on the installation of Integrated Publishing Management System (IPMS). The acquisition of the new system will enable TMIM, as the official publisher of directories in Malaysia, to effectively and efficiently manage its large database of advertisers.

Commenting on the agreement, Khairussaleh said, “With IPMS, which will be in place in 6 months, TMIM will have efficient sales resources assignment and sales call preparation. The system will also provide an online, multi-dimension sales performance tracking and comprehensive contract management. Therefore, TMIM will enjoy a better monitoring of sales movement, higher data integrity and easy access to the report from anywhere in the world at anytime.”

Besides that, with the integrated system, the Company will also be able to save time on the sophisticated workflow.

“This agreement with PCCW Hong Kong Directory Limited is yet another effort by TMIM to strengthen our position in the directory business while keeping abreast with the emergence of new media around us nowadays,” concluded Nasser Abu Bakar, Chief Executive Officer of TMIM.
