1. POLICY STATEMENT
3.1 To support the development of the Information and Communications Technology as sponsor of conferences and seminars and as participants in exhibitions.
3.2 To help promote IT education and student enhancement programme in schools.
3.3 To support national initiatives to enhance Malaysia’s stature in the world community as sponsor of national or international activities.
3.4 To contribute towards the development of sports through the sponsorship of national and international sporting events.
3.5 To provide assistance to deserving cases in line with the philosophy of a caring corporate citizen.
3.6 To project the TM corporate image as follows : 1. Innovative
4.1 All applications for sponsorship must be made in writing. Oral requests will not be entertained.
4.2 The authenticity of applications received from organisations shall be established by verifying against the organisation’s registered name, address, office bearers and approved activities.
4.3 Applications from individuals shall not be entertained except for extremely deserving cases based on merits of each case.
4.4 Applications for the sponsorship of events, programme and activities must be made at least 7 days before the date of such functions.
4.5 Applications for sponsorship shall only be processed by the Corporate Affairs Division and State General Manager.
4.6 Activities/events/programme which fulfill the following conditions can be considered for sponsorship:
4.6.1 Approved by the relevant authority and in compliance with the laws of Malaysia and the laws of the country where such activity/event/programme is held.
4.6.2 Organised at the State, national and international levels;
4.6.3 Benefit a broad spectrum of the Malaysian society.
4.6.4 Activities at district/local levels may be considered on a case by case basis provided such activities are in line with the provision of this Guideline.
4.7 TM’s sponsorship may be given in cash or in kind (Please see Para. 7). Sponsorship may be a one-off grant or an annually recurrent commitment.
4.8 Where appropriate, priority will be given to the sponsorship of activities/events/programmes for which Government tax exemption has been granted.
4.9 All sponsorships must be duly approved by the Approving Authorities as provided under Para.
5.1.1 Sponsorships for the enhancement of IT literacy in line with Government’s policy of introducing IT in education and narrowing of rural-urban digital gap with emphasis on schools in the rural areas.
5.1.2 Assistance to individual schools in support of programme to enhance learning environment and academic performance of the students provided such activities are supported by the Ministry of Education or the State Education Departments.
5.1.3 Educational programme organised by National/State level Foundations/Organisations e.g. Yayasan Sultanah Bahiyah of Kedah
5.1.4 Exceptions Not withstanding the above, requests from schools where children of the staff of TM are studying will be given favourable consideration.
5.2.1 Sponsorships and donations to provide financial assistance, medical care and aftercare and other forms of reliefs

5.3.1 In view of TM’s commitment as the Title Sponsor for TM Le Tour de Langkawi, sponsorship should be focused on this premier cycle race by extracting maximum mileage from this event.
5.3.2 TM may support other “good cycling events” the evaluation of, which will be subject to the merits of each case.
5.3.3 Sponsorship for other international/regional and local Games
e.g. SEA Games SUKMA
5.3.4 Sponsorship in support of game tournaments organised by CGG corporate clients.
5.4.1 Sponsorship of seminars, conferences and exhibition relating to Information Communications Technology to show that TM is in the forefront of advancement in technology.
5.4.2 Sponsorship of International Conferences which would enhance Malaysia’s international standing (e.g. as a prime mover in the Third World, in South-South Cooperation).
5.4.3 Sponsorship of conferences and seminars which deliberate on subjects of current and future trends.
5.4.4 Other activities/events organised by associations/clubs under the patronage of TM
TM has received numerous requests for sponsorship for the publication of books to commemorate specific events or as an attribution to specific areas of interests.
6.1 Divisions are required to obtain prior clearance from the Corporate Affairs Division before committing any donation, contribution and sponsorship, which will be met from their budget.
6.2 All requests for clearance from the Divisions must be accompanied by written supported from the Head before submission to the Corporate Affairs Division.
6.3 Sponsorships under the budget of the Corporate Affairs Division shall be sent direct to the benefactor organisation through an official letter.
6.4 All sponsorships/contributions in cash must be duly acknowledged by the benefactor organisation via an official receipt to be sent to the Finance and Account Division for record and income tax exemption purposes.
7.1 Sponsorship may be provided in cash or kind. Among those frequently supplied are telecommunications facilities, equipment and services by TM personnel, hampers, sports equipment and other souvenirs.
7.2 Items provided under sponsorship must carry TM logo at the appropriate spots where appropriate. “Complimentary slips” must be supplied together with the items
7.3 The recipients must accord appropriate publicity to TM’s contribution at the function or ceremony pertaining to the event.
7.4 The sponsorship in kind must be duly acknowledged by the recipient.
8.1 The Corporate Affairs Division must ensure that appropriate publicity should be accorded commensurate to the sponsorship. Among others, the following must be observed:
8.1.1 Suitable advertisement for TM should be provided.
8.1.2 TM’s sponsorship should be communicated to members of the public through display of Company logo at the backdrop, banner, poster, advertisement, press statement and mentioned in official speeches at the events or function.
8.1.3 Where sponsorship is through purchase of dinner tables or allocation of seats at the official function, TM must be fully represented by relevant Divisions and staff of appropriate levels. Where suitable, customers and partners of TM may be invited to attend.
8.1.4 Where possible, cheque presentation of sponsorship should be organised. In such cases, TM must be represented by a member of senior of appropriate level.
