STREAMYX GOES MOBILE AT A LOW RM10 MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION

As part of its ongoing efforts to increase the take-up of broadband Internet access in the country, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today unveiled its latest Streamyx Goes Mobile package – an extra value mobility package to enable more consumers to enjoy wireless broadband Internet access while at home and on the move via its widest and most stable wireless broadband Internet (Wi-Fi) service at Streamyx Zones nationwide.

The Streamyx Goes Mobile package is value added feature to the TM’s Streamyx Combo and Streamyx Standard packages.

The key features of Streamyx Goes Mobile package include:

• UNLIMITED wireless broadband Internet (WiFi) access at over 1,200 Streamyx Zones (formerly known as Streamyx Hotspots) nationwide

• FREE Wireless Modem worth RM120 with a 12-month warranty – Delivery and installation of the modem will be carried out within 5 working days for existing Streamyx customers at a fee of RM120. For self installation, the modem will be couriered to customers within 7 working days

• FREE iTalk Buddy account @ www.italkbuddy.com.my

Streamyx customers can benefit all these at a low additional fee of RM10 per month! With the FREE wireless modem, customers will be able to enjoy wireless access and mobility at home. And when they are on the move, they can enjoy Wi-Fi access at 1,200 Streamyx Zones nationwide.

The minimum subscription period for this package is 12 months and it is available to all residential customers nationwide in stages.

1. New and existing Streamyx Combo subscribers

For a start, this value added package will immediately be offered to all new and existing Streamyx Combo subscribers in the Klang Valley. TM’s existing 180,000 Streamyx Combo subscribers are encouraged to apply for this value added package to enjoy WiFi access and the freebies.

2. Existing postpaid Streamyx Hotspot subscribers

More than 120,000 existing postpaid Streamyx Hotspot subscribers can also enjoy this new mobility package by applying to migrate to this new package at the 105 TMpoint outlets nationwide from 27 September 2008 onwards.

3. New and existing Streamyx subscribers (Standard package)

Streamyx Goes Mobile is also available to all existing Streamyx subscribers who are on the Standard package from 27 September 2008 onwards. Existing as well as new subscribers will also benefit from unlimited WiFi access, free Wireless modem and iTalk Buddy account for just RM10.

New Streamyx customers will be charged a one-time service activation fee of RM75, installation fee of RM120 and stamp duty fee of RM10 upon successful activation of the service.

Dato’ Zamzamzairani added that TM has put together a convenient value-packed package that will allow users to get online instantly to start experiencing the wealth of online information and entertainment as easily as possible at anytime, from anywhere. The FREE wireless modem that comes with the Streamyx Goes Mobile package will be extremely useful to create a wireless network that will allow you to be connected to the Internet at all times and let you enjoy a fast Internet connection wherever you are in the house. Having the mobility feature at an affordable monthly price to complement the Streamyx account brings tremendous value to our customers, as it gives them the freedom to go online at home or while away on the move, thus making each minute of their time spent more productive, relaxing and enjoyable.”

The 1,200 Streamyx Zones nationwide are located at selected public places in major cities such as shopping malls, al fresco cafes, F&B outlets such as Pizza Hut, Secret Recipe and Burger King, airports, convention centres, hotels, university campuses, hospitals, golf club houses and many more. To spot a Streamyx Zone location, simply look out for the Streamyx Zone sign at your local eatery or shopping mall.

This service can be accessed with a laptop, PDA, Tablet PC or other mobile devices with standard Wi-Fi capability (802.11b/g wireless LAN standard) at any Streamyx Zones nationwide and users can conveniently check their e-mail, browse the Internet, make phone calls via Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) service, watch video streaming, blog among others. Users only need to open their web browser and key-in their username and password. Once connected, users can enjoy broadband speeds of up to 384kbps and 100% mobility within the range of the access point.
