A NEW MEMBER FOR TM BOARD

Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today announced the appointment of Datuk Zalekha Hassan as the new Non-Independent Non-Executive Director on TM Board with effect from 9 January 2008 replacing Dato’ Ahmad bin Haji Hashim, who resigned as TM’s Director on 7 January 2008. Puan Dyg Sadiah bt Abg Bohan who ceased to be the alternate director to Dato’ Ahmad on 7 January 2008, has also been appointed as the alternate director to Datuk Zalekha with effect from 9 January 2008
as well.

Datuk Zalekha graduated from the University of Malaya with a Bachelor
of Arts (Hons) and began her career in the Malaysian civil service in
1977, as an Assistant Director, in the Training and Career Development division of the Public Service Department.

She continued to serve the Government in numerous Ministries including the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Welfare, Ministry of National Unity and Social Development prior to beginning her career in the Ministry of Finance (MOF) in 1998 as the Senior Assistant Director of the Budget Division.

She has since then continued to serve the MOF in various capacities. Datuk Zalekha was attached to the Government Procurement Management Division of the MOF for 7 years before taking up her current appointment as the Deputy Secretary General (Operation) in MOF.

Currently, she is a director of Konsortium Baja Nasional Berhad and also an alternate director on the board of Tenaga Nasional Berhad.

Tan Sri Dato’ Ir. Md Radzi Mansor, Chairman of TM, on behalf of the Board, expressed his appreciation for the valuable contribution from Dato’ Ahmad bin Haji Hashim during his tenure as a Director and welcomed Datuk Zalekha with whom the Board looks forward to work closely, as she brings with her considerable experience in finance and administration in the civil service.
