TM TO OFFER BETTER PRODUCTS AND SERVICES WITH ENRICHED DATABASE
With 600,000 completed entries received for its RM1 Million Reward Program, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) now has an updated customers’ profile for its database. This enriched database will be useful for TM in its efforts to offer its customers new innovative and affordable products and services.
Dato’ Abdul Wahid Omar, Group Chief Executive Officer, TM said: “We view this enriched customers’ profile as crucial to enable us to serve our customers better by understanding their lifestyle.”
“In addition, TM sees the program as a ‘win-win’ situation for both our valued customers and the organization. For the customers, they not only had a chance to win exciting prizes as a reward for their loyalty to TM, but will also benefit with the upcoming products and services from TM which better suit their needs. On our part, this program gave us an opportunity to update and enrich our customers’ profile and more importantly, reward our loyal customers,” added Dato’ Wahid.
At an event held at Menara TM, Kuala Lumpur today, Abdul Razak bin Mat from Pasir Puteh, Kelantan walked away with the Grand Prize of RM1 million cash. Razak, 53, a carpenter with 6 children, is a TM Homeline customer since 1994. He participated in the program with the assistance of his eldest son, Mohd. Rafizi, who came across the program’s website while surfing the Internet at a cyber café in Pasir Puteh.
When he was informed that he had won RM1 million cash from TM, Razak expressed his gratitude calmly, “I am happy to be selected and praise to Allah for my lucky fortune. I am deeply touched and never expected to win.” His whole family was overwhelmed with their windfall especially his wife, Hamidah Mat Isa, 47, who could not contain her joy.
The cheque of RM1 million was given away by YB. Dato’ Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development to Abdul Razak.
This program, which started in May 2006 and ended in November 2006, had rewarded more than 500 Daily winners who received RM100 cash rebates and 3 Monthly car winners (for the months of June, July and August) who drove home a brand new Proton Waja, Proton Gen2 and Perodua MyVi respectively.
More interestingly, this is the first time that TM has offered RM1 million cash for a Grand Prize in a contest/program, making it the single largest prize money contributed by the Company.
All the three car winners were excited with their win. Emily Wu, who drove home the Proton Waja exclaimed, “Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d win!” while Mohd. Fauzi Mustapha, the winner of Proton Gen2 said, “I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn’t dreaming!”. The third car, a Perodua MyVi was won by Muhammad Nuzulhan Muhammad Zain who expressed his feelings, “I never thought I could win a car. I participated just to be a part of this exciting program.”
An interesting fact to note is that about 40% of the entries received were submitted via online reflecting that Malaysians are becoming increasingly IT savvy. An online submission is easy, quick and the customers are guided throughout completing the forms which contributed to less erratic and incomplete forms.
An aggressive outdoor promotion also contributed to the high number of online entries as TM opened up booths for customers to participate in the program during carnivals, sports events and other exhibitions or activities. The promotions were held during Syoknya Fiesta, Broadband Fiesta, Menara KL Anniversary celebrations, MyTeam trials, SUKMA and all exhibitions conducted by TM during the program period, among others. TM also promoted the program through advertisements in print and electronic media, billboards, SMS blasts and bill messages.
In addition, to encourage the employees to be involved with this program, TM conducted an internal campaign for the staff to promote this reward program to customers. Employees were enthusiastic to be a part of this part as it allowed them to get to know the customers better while promoting it. In appreciation of their efforts, incentives were given to employees for bringing in the most number of completed entries.
Dato’ Wahid in his speech advised Razak to spend the money wisely. Being a carpenter, Razak was urged to use part of the money to upgrade his carpentry skills and purchase modern tools to improve his productivity and quality of his work. He also advised Razak to invest wisely such as in Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB).
“Looking at the success of this program, TM will look into the possibilities of conducting more programs of this nature to reward our valued customers,” concluded Dato’ Wahid.
