DYMM SULTAN OF KEDAH OFFICIATES TM’S NEW BUILDING IN KEDAH
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today officially opened its new building in Alor Star, Kedah Darul Aman. The official opening of the new building was graced by Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tuanku Sultan Kedah. Royal Kedah family, YB Dato’ Azimi bin Daim, State Exco of Education, Multimedia, IT and ICT Communication who represented the Menteri Besar of Kedah and Tan Sri Dato’ Ir. Md. Radzi Mansor, Chairman of TM were also present during the ceremony.
The new building, called Kompleks TM Alor Star is a 5-storey building located at Jalan Kolam Air, Alor Star. It houses not only TM divisions but also its subsidiaries namely Celcom, TM Net, GITN and TM’s customer service outlet, TMpoint. The building has good accessibility and visibility to the customers.
The 50,000 square feet building which can accommodate more than 500 staff comfortably is complete with eight meeting and discussion rooms, a video conferencing studio, a surau and a children playground.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Tan Sri Radzi said, “This new building shows yet another commitment and initiative by TM to enhance the customer service facilities especially for our customers as well as the communities.”
Tan Sri Radzi added, “The TMpoint at this new Kompleks TM Alor Star will become a one-stop center for TM products and services. In addition to the basic services such as bill payments and service applications over the counter, we have taken proactive steps in providing value added services such as a 24-hour payment kiosk, drive-through counter and free Internet surfing.”
Currently, TM Kedah serves about 270,000 business and residential customers. In order to cater to these customers’ needs, a total of 5 TMpoints are available throughout Kedah. The TMpoints offer various services including utility bill payments, new applications for TM services, 3G registrations, value added services, account management and sales counter for communications equipment.
Commenting on TM’s commitment in Kedah, Tan Sri Radzi said that TM has furnished the State with various communications infrastructure including the Kedah*Net project, a network that connects all state offices throughout Kedah. He also expressed his gratitude to the State government for the opportunity to continue contributing towards realising the State’s aspiration of Kedah Maju 2010 in which ICT sector has been identified as one of the core strategic drivers.
In conjunction with the official opening of the building, TM is also holding a 3-day carnival called MyTMworld, from 18 May 2006 until 20 May 2006. During the carnival, a special promotion on TM’s Homeline, Ring Ring and iTalk cards, Celcom 3G and Xpax, tmnet streamyx among others, will be offered. Also featured is the recently launched RM 1 Million Reward program, including the special appearance by Jalaluddin Hassan, the program’s ambassador.
Interesting activities such as Treasure Hunt, Quiz Sessions and games with attractive prizes to be won will also be held. Members of the public are welcomed to visit the promotion counter and join the activities which will be held at Ground Floor of the new complex.
