'SYOKNYA FATT CHOY' GOES TO EAST MALAYSIA
Sabahans
and Sarawakians in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching respectively
will now have an opportunity to participate in TMs Syoknya
Fatt Choy campaign as part of its Chinese New Year celebrations.
This community programme will be brought to East Malaysia
for the first time since its inception in 2002. Over the last
4 years of this programme, only communities in Peninsular
Malaysia had the opportunity to participate in the programme.
Appropriately called Syoknya Fatt Choy which means
Syoknya Chinese New Year, the 2006 programme will
be carried out in semi urban areas in Peninsular Malaysia
as well as Kota Kinabalu and Kuching in East Malaysia for
the period of 9 to 25 January 2006.
TM is continuing the tradition of conducting this programme
due to the overwhelming response received during the previous
Syoknya Raya or Syoknya Fatt Choy campaign over the years.
The crowds at each location have grown bigger each year and
there are requests from various malls to use their premises
as locations for these programmes although they are not designated
stops. This served as an encouragement for TM to replicate
the programme in East Malaysia.
Adding more zest to the celebrations this year, Daniel, the
winner of Malaysian Idol 2005 and Nita, the runner up, entertained
the audience before joining Dato Abdul Wahid Omar, Group
Chief Executive Officer of TM in flagging-off two jeeps today
at Menara TM, Jalan Pantai Baharu. These two jeeps will tour
Malaysia and stop at the identified locations.
Over the years, this campaign has not only attracted those
who celebrate Chinese New Year but also other Malaysians from
various ethnic groups. This community programme is aimed at
building closer relationships between TM and the community
at large in addition to signifying TMs strong corporate
stance on corporate social responsibility.
A total of two teams in two jeeps supervised by TM personnel
will stop at each identified strategic locations for approximately
one hour outside shopping areas or other strategic locations.
During the stop, a host of interesting games and activities
such as the lion dance, an appearance by the Syoknya
Fatt Choy mascot, a mandarin orange eating competition,
a Chinese New Year song competition and other interesting
games will be held. The mascot in addition, will give away
Ang Pows and mandarin oranges to the audience especially to
kids.
Attractive prizes such as Nokia handphones with Celcom X-pax
starter packs, fixed line prepaid calling cards namely Ring
Ring Cards and iTalk Cards, TM Net prepaid and Syoknya
Fatt Choy merchandise await contestants who participate
in the quizzes that will be held at each stop. Contestants
will only have to answer simple questions on TMs products
and services to win these prizes.
To create additional excitement for this programme, a TV3
crew will follow the jeeps and record the activities at each
stop. This will then be aired every evening during the Chinese
programming belt from 5 to 8 p.m. and nightly on the Buletin
Utama news segment from 8 to 9 p.m, prior to the sports update.
The designated locations for this years Syoknya
Fatt Choy is attached as Appendix 1.
