A NEW MEMBER FOR TM BOARD
Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) today announced the appointment
of Encik Ahmad bin Haji Hashim as a new board member (Non-Independent
Non Executive Director) with effect from 14 September 2005
replacing Dato Haji Abd Rahim Haji Abdul, who retired
on 2 September 2005. Encik Mohammad Zanudin Ahmad Rasidi who
was an alternate director to Dato Haji Abd Rahim Haji
Abdul, has ceased to be his alternate director with effect
from 2 September 2005 as well.
En Ahmad graduated from the University of Malaya with a Bachelor
of Economics (Hons) and obtained his Master in Business Administration
from City University, Washington State, USA. He began his
career in the Malaysian civil service in 1974, as an Assistant
Secretary, Implementation and Coordination Unit, in the Prime
Ministers Department.
He then continued serving the Government in numerous Ministries
including the Ministry of Finance where he served for 8 years,
between 1977 and 1984, holding various positions, before joining
the Ministry of International Trade and Industry as the Principal
Assistant Secretary in 1985. In 1992, he joined the Foreign
Investment Committee, EPU, Prime Minister's Department as
Principal Assistant Secretary.
In 1996, Encik Ahmad was again transferred back to the Ministry
of Finance as Deputy Secretary, Economic and International
Division, Treasury. He went on to serve the Ministry for another
8 years before his next appointment as the Deputy Secretary
General (Finance) in the Ministry of Health where he served
from 2003 until September 2005. Encik Ahmad is now back in
the Ministry of Finance as the Deputy Secretary General (Operation),
Treasury.
Encik Ahmad has attended various courses and seminars conducted
by the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and World Trade
Organisation. He has also attended the Oxford Advanced Management
Programme, University of Oxford, United Kingdom conducted
in 2004.
He has previously held directorships and memberships in several
organisations between 1999 and 2004, namely Institut Jantung
Negara, Islamic Development Bank in Jeddah, Bank Simpanan
Nasional, Lembaga Tabung Haji, Perbadanan Labuan, Employees
Provident Fund, Johor Corporation, Malaysian Timber Industry
Board, Klang Port Management Sdn Bhd and Penang Regional Development
Authority.
Throughout his illustrious career with the Malaysian civil
service, En.Ahmad has also represented Malaysia in APEC Economic
Committee, Finance Ministers/Leaders meetings, Islamic Development
Bank Board of Governors meetings, Commonwealth Finance Ministers
meetings, Asia-Europe (ASEM) Leaders meeting, WTO meetings
among others.
Chairman of TM, Tan Sri Dato Ir Md Radzi Mansor, on
behalf of the Board, expressed his appreciation for the valuable
contributions from Dato Haji Abd Rahim Haji Abdul and
Encik Mohammad Zanudin Ahmad Rasidi during their tenure as
Director and Alternate Director of TM and welcomed Encik Ahmad
with whom the Board looks forward to work closely, as he brings
with him vast experience in finance and administration in
the civil service.
