TELEKOM MALAYSIA CELEBRATES 340 RETIREES

First Telecom Operator to Serve One Million Sri Lankans

Kuala Lumpur, 21/6/2004 - Telekom Malaysia today held a dinner reception, named "Jasamu Dikenang" in honour of its 340 retired employees for their service, dedication and determination while serving the Company. The dinner is the highlight of the "Jasamu Dikenang" Programme which is being held from 21 June to 23 June 2004.

The three-day event saw the gathering of the Company's retirees and their spouses whom were given special treatment throughout the three days including the dinner reception, tours and shopping sprees.

This programme is a yearly event held by Telekom Malaysia since 1992. It is held in honour of Telekom Malaysia's employees from various divisions including its subsidiaries such as Telekom Sales & Services Sdn Bhd (TSSSB) and TM Research & Development Sdn Bhd (TMR&D). This year sees a few changes to the programme. The programme which was normally held in Langkawi, is now held in Kuala Lumpur. The retirees will be taken to visit Telekom Malaysia's landmarks such as Menara Telekom, Menara Kuala Lumpur, Muzium Telekom and Multimedia University.

In addition, the retirees are given vacation packages where they are given six (6) options to choose from. The six options are:

Vacation package to a tourist destination for the retiree and spouse worth RM1,500 and a momento worth RM500.

Vacation package to a tourist destination for the retiree only worth RM1,500 and a momento worth RM500.

Vacation package to a tourist destination for the retiree only worth RM1,000 and a momento worth RM1,000.
Vacation package to a tourist destination for the retiree and spouse worth RM2,000.
Vacation package to a tourist destination for the retiree only worth RM2,000.
A momento worth RM2,000.
Apart from that, the retirees will enjoy benefits including booking privileges to stay at TM Resort (Sri Intan), free monthly rental for residential fixed line telephone and scholarship priorities for their children.

The Board of Directors of Telekom Malaysia has also agreed to extend the retirees' tenure on contract basis upon reaching the compulsory retirement age of 55, subject to several factors including job criticality, good performance, physical fitness and exemplary conduct during service.

The retirees can also still continue to sustain a good relationship with the Company by joining the Association of Ex-Staff of Telekom Malaysia (Persatuan Bekas Anggota Telekom Malaysia).

Speaking at the event, Tan Sri Dato' Ir. Md. Radzi Mansor, Chairman of Telekom Malaysia said, "We can't say enough in thanking you for your contribution to the Company. With your dedication and co-operation, Telekom Malaysia has maintained its presence as the nation's leading communications provider."

During the dinner, Tan Sri Dato' Ir. Md. Radzi Mansor and Dato' Dr. Md. Khir Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive of Telekom Malaysia presented the souvenirs to the retirees.
