TELEKOM MALAYSIA AND PERSAMA CONDUT MATHEMATICS CAMP IN KEDAH
Alor Star, Kedah, 19/6/2004 - Telekom Malaysia in co-operation with Persatuan Sains Matematik Malaysia (PERSAMA) today officiated the closing ceremony of a Mathematics Camp held in Sekolah Menengah Sains Pokok Sena, Alor Star, Kedah.
This Maths Camp in Kedah is the second edition under the 'Kem Matematik Telekom Malaysia - PERSAMA 2004' project. Three states namely Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Terengganu have been chosen to conduct this camp for this year. The first edition was conducted at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Jelai, Daerah Jempol, Negeri Sembilan from 14 to 16 May 2004.
The main objective of this Camp is to increase the Maths literacy of our students with an emphasis on rural and sub-urban students. The other objective of the Camp are to make them realise the importance and value of Maths in their life and to encourage these students to work hard on Maths subject in order to obtain good results and ultimately.
For this second edition, a total of 100 participants took part in the 3-day Camp starting 17 June until today. The Camp was facilitated by volunteers who are lecturers of local universities.
Motivational talks as well as interesting Maths-oriented games were conducted during the Camp.
The closing ceremony of this Mathematics Camp was officiated by Y.Bhg. Dato' Dr. Md Khir Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive of Telekom Malaysia. Y.Bhg. Tuan Haji Hussin Ayob, Ketua Penolong Pengarah, Unit Kurikulum, Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Kedah and Prof. Madya Dr. Mohd Salmi Md. Nooraini, President of PERSAMA were also present. |
