TELEKOM MALAYSIA HOLDS ITS 6TH NATIONAL SPORTS CHAMPIONSHIP FOR EMPLOYEES
Skudai, Johor, 6/5/2004 - Some 1500 employees of Telekom Malaysia from 14 state contingents including from Sabah and Sarawak gathered at the Sports Complex of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai in Johor to participate in the Company's Sixth National Sports Championship (SUTMA) from 5th to 8th May 2004. For 2004, this biennial championship is organised by Kelab Telekom Malaysia Johor.
Ten sporting events comprising golf, netball, hockey, bowling, sepak takraw, volleyball. badminton, ping pong, tennis and football will be up for competition.
Themed "Sukan Peneraju Kecemerlangan", this sports meet is aimed at giving employees the opportunity to work together and strengthen their relationship as well as encouraging better rapport between employees of different states. The championship is also aimed at instilling a healthy spirit of unity, co-operation and competitiveness among the staff from different levels in the Company.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Dato' Dr. Md Khir Abdul Rahman, Chief Executive of Telekom Malaysia said that "We should take this opportunity to tighten the relationship among us by respecting each other in the spirit of sportsmanship".
As a Company that is mindful of its social responsibilities, Telekom Malaysia consistently organises various motivational and sporting activities for the development of its employees.
The officiating ceremony for SUTMA 2004 was graced by Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Haji Abdul Ghani Othman, the Menteri Besar of Negeri Johor Darul Takzim. |
