TELEKOM MALAYSIA PARTICIPATES IN ITU TELECOM AFRICA 2004

Kuala Lumpur, 30/4/2004 - As the nation's leading telecommunication provider, Telekom Malaysia will make its presence by participating in the exhibition held in conjunction with the five-day ITU Telecom Africa 2004 in Cairo from 4 to 8 May 2004. It was organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

The exhibition brings together leading players from government, regional and international operators, manufacturers, regulators and investment bodies from all over the world.

Telekom Malaysia has chosen "Journey of Possibilities" as the theme for its booth in the exhibition. This is in line with the Company's stance of always exploring new possibilities and responding proactively in the changing world of communications. As the nation's premier communications provider, Telekom Malaysia is providing the digital backbone and communication facilities so essential to a first world environment and key to the nation's economic success.

Telekom Malaysia will work closely with its subsidiary, Telekom Applied Business Sdn. Bhd. (TAB) for this exhibition. TAB is an MSC status company specialising in Computer Telephony Integration (CTI) solutions as well as Operating Supports Systems (OSS) for the telecommunications industry. Among the products and services that will be showcased are:

a) Ezeephone - a fixed prepaid telephony system which capitalises on concepts adapted from three standard prepaid technologies: cellular prepaid, payphone and calling card

b) Fixed Line SMS - a service that enables fixed line customers to send short message service (SMS) through their telephone line using a special Fixed SMS phone

c) Virtual Communication Services (VCS) - an integrated platform consisting of several virtual application services that enhance the conventional modes of communication such as Virtual Messaging Services (VMS), Virtual Directory Services (VDS) and Virtual Customer Service (VCuS)

d) International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) - an internationally dedicated point-to-point leased line service between customers' premises around the world

e) Telekom Malaysia Regional Offices in United Kingdom, Hong Kong, United States of America and Singapore

Telekom Malaysia has been participating in international and domestic initiatives towards placing Malaysia as a key communications and multimedia hub. By participating in this exhibition, Telekom Malaysia hopes to promote its potential business ventures in the African region whilst showcasing the latest ICT offerings from Telekom Malaysia Group.
