TM CSR Policy Statement
‘In everything that the TM Group does, we place importance on our obligations as a responsible corporate citizen.’

TM CSR Objectives
In carrying out its CSR responsibilities, the TM Group follows seven broad objectives. These objectives serve as a beacon for the planning of all activities:

  1. fulfill the Group’s responsibilities as a good corporate citizen
  2. give back to society in meaningful and tangible ways through community and nation-building support
  3. build corporate reputation and commitment to ethical corporate values
  4. meet expectations of good corporate governance
  5. maintain good business relationships
  6. motivate employees and build a positive corporate culture of social service and responsibility
  7. reinforce and strengthen the company’s brand position

TM CSR Evaluation Criteria
In deciding which causes to support, TM Group companies shall be guided by how its social investment will :

  1. offer a value proposition across all segments of society
  2. promote the Group’s corporate values
  3. contribute to the development of the Group’s social responsibility culture
  4. strengthen the Group’s corporate reputation and build goodwill
  5. support the Group’s brand presence and awareness
  6. assist in nation-building

The TM Group will not support causes/events/entities that display the following characteristics:

  • does not bring broad based benefits and value across all segments of society
  • does not relate to the Group’s CSR platforms
  • not ethically aligned to the Group’s corporate values
  • do not follow proper guidelines as set by the Group
  • detrimental to the Group’s brand, PR, goodwill and relationship value
  • purely driven for the benefit of individuals, personal agendas and political groups
  • already well supported and funded
  • not likely to be well-managed and sustained
  • poorly conceived, poorly budgeted and poorly presented proposals
  • of a suspicious and dubious nature
  • repeat requests from the same organisation within a span of six months or less
  • linked to international causes that may conflict with the national agenda
  • charitable organisations not registered with the Social Welfare Department and Registrar of Societies
  • which has competitor involvement
  • not consistent with Malaysia’s multi-ethnic society and religious environment
  • not consistent with government and regulatory policies and pronouncements

Organisations requesting sponsorship assistance from TM should follow the following submission guidelines:

  • official letterhead with official name of organisation, company registration number, location address and contact details
  • names and contact details of responsible officials in the organisation
  • project/event details such as objectives, budget, timeline, location/venue, target audience, sponsorship requested in cash or in-kind (please provide specific details if in-kind)
  • details of benefits to the sponsoring organisation
  • details of the organisation’s credentials/track record of projects
  • details of any relevant market research, if any
  • details of other sponsoring organisations/partners
  • details of media exposure and media partners
  • tax exemption status – approval number and letter of approval from Inland Revenue Board
